President Obama and GOP presidential hopeful Mitt Romney are now tied in Florida, according to a new poll that shows the president's approval rating in the key swing state was not helped by the debt-ceiling deal.

Before the accord to raise the debt limit and cut $2.1 trillion in federal spending, Obama led Romney in Florida by five percentage points in a May 26 survey by Quinnipiac.

Thaddeus McCotter: "Look For The Union Label..."

Thaddeus McCotter tweeted this Friday:

Kind of a strange statement from one Republican about another. Especially when they both have strong ties to the state of Michigan. Romney was born there and his father ran an auto company and was Governor.

Now McCotter's ties, that's another matter. McCotter seems to have a problem with Romney because the Autoworkers unions do.

On Romney's recent visit to Michigan, McCotter held a press conference with constituents where he blasted Romney for not supporting the General Motors and Chrysler bailouts.

Romney back in 2008 felt that the bailout was the wrong way to go and that a managed bankruptcy would have saved tax payers money and left the companies stronger because the unions would have had to make tougher sacrifices. In the end, Romney was right. Bankruptcy was the way to go. Unfortunately, it came AFTER the bailouts.

Now back to McCotter's ties to unions:

1. Was For Card Check before he was against it:

He voted to pass the Employee Free Choice Act of 2007. Not to many Republicans were on board because it basically eliminates employees from voting secret ballot. This meant that unions could intimidate workers in voting for what the union bosses wanted. Of course this was 2007 and under GW Bush, this bill was going no where.

2. Backed by major Union Donations: Top 20 Industries contributing to his Campaign Committee

3. CO-SPONSORED $165 Billion Union Bailout

So When you see or listen to Thad McCotter in the future, Remember the song from the video below:

Attention: PPP. Gallup, Zogby, Marist, Rasmussen...et al

Here's a novel idea, let's start polling DECLARED REPUBLICAN candidates only. Or at least, have one question with ONLY their names included.

Declared GOP candidates are:

Michele Bachmann
Herman Cain
Newt Gingrich
Jon Huntsman
Gary Johnson
Fred Karger
Thaddeus McCotter
Ron Paul
Tim Pawlenty
Mitt Romney
Rick Santorum

It seems that most polling companies are into wishful thinking and musical chairs rather than the actual field of candidates. I have no problem including as many names as you want, AS LONG as at least one set are the DECLARED CANDIDATES ONLY!

As an example, the other day in NH, PPP had 3 sets of various names interchanged in their polling for the GOP nomination. NONE of which were the actual declared candidates alone. There were always someone missing and some non-candidates added. To add insult to injury, you couldn't even compare these results from their previous poll, because additional names were added while others were taken out.

Maybe I'm being picky, but I know I'm tired of seeing Giuliani, Christie, Perry, Palin, Ryan......included in these surveys. It would be nice if declared candidates and their supporters could see how things REALLY ARE between the REAL candidates!

Now I realize there is interest in non-declared candidates and that is why they are included. However, why not have ONE set with ONLY the declared candidates included EACH TIME there is a poll taken?.

What do you think?

Rep. McCotter Makes it Official

Just in from Freedom Fest...U.S. Rep. Thaddeus McCotter, R-Mich. announced his candidacy for President of the United States.

From his Twitter account:
Under stormy skies at #WAAM Freedom Fest, I announced 4 GOP nomination 4 President & wasn't struck by lightning. http://www.mccotter2012.com
I don't claim to know much about McCotter, but he's clearly not a Romney fan. It appears as though Mitt's free ride may be coming to an end.
....“Mr. Romney and Mr. Obama are not rivals, they’re running mates." McCotter said at a Plymouth, Mich. event held Wednesday afternoon, a day before Romney's arrival in the Wolverine state....

....“In the area of cap and trade, the President and Mr. Romney both believe in climate change. In the area of health care, both the President and Mr. [Romney] believe in comparative effectiveness research and government controlling the supply of health care. What you see in the area of the Wall Street Bailout, both Mr. Romney and President Obama believe that the bondholders and shareholders on Wall Street should be held harmless, with no restructuring, no downsizing, no management changes, no equity, and no preparation for future to get capital flowing back again.”....
