Jindal Thinks if We Can Just Get Them to Stop Calling Us Names...

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal on Monday called on Republicans to “stop being the stupid party” and make a concerted effort to reach a broader swath of voters with an inclusive economic message that pre-empts efforts to caricature the GOP as the party of the rich. -Politico
“We’ve got to make sure that we are not the party of big business, big banks, big Wall Street bailouts, big corporate loopholes, big anything,” Jindal told POLITICO in a 45-minute telephone interview. “We cannot be, we must not be, the party that simply protects the rich so they get to keep their toys.”Good work, there, Gov. Jindal. You've nailed it. We just need to get those lefties to stop calling us rich white guys and everything will be fine.
I liked Jindal for being an intelligent, articulate conservative, but wow. This just took him down several pegs for me in the respect department. He blames the GOP for every smear from the left. Somehow we're supposed to get them to stop calling us names and everything will be all right. Riiight.
The whole "Believe in America" campaign was about trusting Americans to be smarter than the media and Hollywood give them credit for. Unfortunately, we discovered that when it comes to the economy, nobody knows what the H is going on.
Calling on the GOP to be “the party of ideas, details and intelligent solutions,” the Louisianan urged the party to “stop reducing everything to mindless slogans, tag lines, 30-second ads that all begin to sound the same. “
Exactly, Governor. We should run our campaign more like Barack Obama with voter virginity campaign ads featuring YouTube stars, slogans like, "Four More Years," and "Forward."
Apparently, the opposite of what he's saying is true. "Believe in America" was just too many words for people to "digest."
Hope.
Change.
Forward.
This is the new America.

Small Criticism of the Romney Campaign
However, he has to become President first. September is half gone. October is only 30 days, then Nov 6th, is just a week away. 49 days left. All of his avid defenders said, just wait. Wait until after the conventions. Mitt will open up then.
We know that of the swing states, Ohio is one of the biggest. The Cleveland Browns were playing the Cincinnati Bengals today. Two major markets in Ohio. Pretty much the entire state would be watching that game. It was reported that the Obama campaign had at least one 1-minute ad during the game. Romney had zero. WHAT'S UP WITH THAT?!
The NFL is broadly accepted by both Republicans and Democrats alike. It is a very blue-collar type of game. These are the voters Mitt needs in Ohio, especially. This was a missed opportunity.
Now, for a dose of reality. In the grand scheme of things, it may not be that big of a deal. Obama is doing a fine job shooting himself in the foot. But if no one sees that he's just shot himself, did it really happen? We know the media will not report the facts of the recent international mess in such a way to make the President look bad (unlike what they did to President Bush.) So, Team Romney, tell the story!
I am patient. But when a one-off opportunity presents itself, attack it! And this Browns/Bengals game would have been a perfect opportunity. In my opinion, of course.

Youtube Yanks Romney Ad
If you didn't like the Political Payoffs and Middle Class Layoffs ad, no worries, it has been taken down. Despite its Fair Use usage, BMG has issued a DMCA notice takedown (most likely illegally, I might add). Despite it being Obama singing it, Romney using less than 15 seconds of the song, and BMG’s refusal to sue Obama over public performance of the song, Youtube has taken the ad down.Perhaps ironically, BMG and Crown/Random House (which published both of Obama’s books, his campaign plan, and Michelle Obama’s new book) are — despite Obama’s concerns about “outsourcing” — all owned by German conglomerate Bertlesmann AG, which bills itself as “the world’s most international media company.”
Unfortunately, I don't have the time to research or resources to investigate the intricacies of this take-down notice. But the DMCA requires certain steps to be taken before Youtube, or any other hosting site, is legally required to pull a video or audio clip. The whole thing stinks to high heaven that Youtube summarily yanked it so quickly. Team Romney is on sure legal footing to declare the video of Obama singing (not the original artist) no more than 5 seconds of a song to be FAIR USE and require Youtube to relist the video.
Let's watch the ad below. When the graphic changes from the youtube yanked image to an actual image from the video, you'll know it is back up.

The Culture Wars; Progressives vs. Conservatives
Not only will we have a better country, but as Ludwig von Mises reminds us: "A higher standard of living also brings about a higher standard of culture and civilization."

There’s a new frame in town: The nanny state. In a masterful maneuver of political aikido, conservatives have taken Lakoff’s antediluvian “strict father conservatism” frame and completely reversed it. Conservatism now stands for freedom from authority, while is it progressivism that seeks to implement the new scolding parent metaphor, now known as the “nanny state.” It’s liberals who want to tell you what to do and what is allowed, not conservatives. When you're debating with liberals & socialists, stay a step ahead of them in their ideology. Be a beacon of conservatism to sway others to look at our point of view. Encourage folks that have not thought about these things to reexamine what really is best & if they have not registered to vote, help them to register & think clearly about the issues. Conservatives have & have always had, the superior message; progressives have the inferior ideology, but have the culture, MSM & Hollywood. It's our job to combat that daily & support conservatives politically & financially, wherever & whoever they are.
And this frame is widely accepted by the general public not simply because of superior conservative messaging, but because there is evidence backing it up. It is mostly liberal politicians, not conservative politicians, who pass laws and regulations telling citizens what they can and cannot do, what they must and must not buy, what they are and are not allowed to say.
Who seeks to impose the “strict parent” paradigm now? Liberals. And everyone knows it.
