Debate Thoughts by Machtyn

The final debate has just completed and I think Romney has built upon his lead in every one. He was able to control the tempo and tenor of every debate. The first was a fluke for Obama, but it was the game changer. Romney was able to control that debate like no other. In the second debate, Romney attacked and went hard. He caught Obama on his heels and kept up the pressure. Finally, Obama tried to attack Romney and drag him low, but Romney would have none of it. Obama's attacks failed and made him look little, while Romney looked Presidential. As Charles Krauthammer stated after the debate, "Romney went large. Obama went very, very small – shockingly small."

Romney will win the Presidency. In my opinion, Romney came across just as knowledgeable and more capable to handle the foreign policies of the nation than Obama. This debate did not move the needle for the partisans, but in the following days the independents will move. Dick Morris has been a pretty good score keeper of the debates. He has Romney winning on points. A PPP poll post-debate had the following question for Independents:
16 point negative swing against Obama and a 12 point positive swing for Romney. In other words, Romney won this thing.

But this final debate was not the clincher I would have liked it to be. Watching Luntz's focus group confirms that to me. They felt that Romney was strong on the economy, but Obama was strong on foreign policy. However, most seem like they will vote for Romney as this election is about the economy. They understand a strong economy is a strong America and that will pay the military bill to create a strong military.

The LIARS CLUB: Candy Crowley and the President share the same values

Last night at the Presidential Debate, Candy Crowley reaffirmed an out right lie by the President that on the day after the Benghazi killings, he called it a terrorist act...HE DID NOT.

Now Crowley can spin this in her head any way she wants as to what she thought the President said in his statement. That doesn't make it the truth.

I'm kind of a simple person. I don't like making simple...cut-n-dry issues anymore complicated than they have to be. So, I WON’T SPIN IT. I WON’T TELL YOU WHAT I THINK THE PRESIDENT SAID. Crowley shouldn’t have either

What I have below, are video segments of the President’s September 12 Rose Garden statements and the entire statement.

Up to the point in his statement represented in this first video segment below, the President uses the following terms to refer to the Benghazi killings (number of times):

Killers (1)
attackers (5)
Senseless violence (1)
Brutal acts (1)

First segment:

Right after his reference to terrorism above as it related to 9/11, the President refers to the Benghazi killings as "Terrible Act" NOT TERRORIST ACTS in the second segment below:

Second segment:

Below he continues to the end of his statement to refer to the killers as "attackers" not terrorists:

Third segment:

Now I wouldn't want to be accused of taking things out of context, so the following is the ENTIRE STATEMENT:

Cathy Crowley and CNN need to set the record straight. That is, that Romney was correct and that The President and Crowley WERE NOT. And they need to correct this several times to make up for the 10's of millions that saw this debate last night.

In closing, I want you and the media to ask yourself this:

Should Americans have to interpret what an American President says in a statement? Should we need to call in code breakers every time this President opens his Mouth?

Paul Ryan's Debating Partner is revealed

Attorney Ted Olson, who was solicitor general for President George W. Bush, is playing the part of Vice President Joe Biden in Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan's debate preparation, the Romney campaign announced Saturday.

Olson has extensive experience both in and out of government. He served as the assistant attorney general in the Office of Legal Counsel for President Reagan, and acted as private counsel for both Reagan and George W. Bush. He has argued 58 cases before the Supreme Court, three quarters of which have been decided in his favor. His third wife, Barbara, was killed in the 9/11 attacks; she was a passenger on the plane that flew into the Pentagon.
