Rasmussen: Perry gets an announcement bounce

If the 2012 Republican Primary for President were held today would you vote for Rick Perry, Mitt Romney, Michele Bachmann, Herman Cain, Ron Paul, Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich, Jon Huntsman or Thad McCotter? (August 1, 2012 results)

Rick Perry 29% (18%)
Mitt Romney 18% (22%)
Michele Bachmann 13% (16%)
Ron Paul 9% (10%)
Herman Cain 6% (9%)
Newt Gingrich 5% (6%)
Rick Santorum  1%
Jon Huntsman 1% (2%)
Thaddeus McCotter  0%
Undecided 16% (9%)

The survey of 1,000 Likely GOP Primary Voters was conducted on August 15, 2011 by Rasmussen Reports. Likely GOP Primary Voters include both Republicans and unaffiliated voters likely to vote in a GOP Primary. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points.

People have found their "anti-Romney" candidate, for the moment, at least. When they find out more about Perry, I wonder if the honeymoon will last.
