Jim DeMint Demands GOP Leaders Keep Their Promises

Former Sen. Jim DeMint called for members of the audience at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) to put pressure on Republican leadership to follow through with conservative policy pledges Thursday morning.
DeMint relied on his expereince as a former lawmaker to tell members of the audience at the Gaylord National Convention Center that pollsters, consultants, and other interest groups are working hard to convince members of Republican leadership that it’s in their best interest to not follow through on key promises that President Donald Trump made on the campaign trail.

“Washington is extremely good at lowering expectations,” DeMint told the audience. “People are telling Republicans not to keep their promises. They are saying Republicans shouldn’t overreach, that politics is the art of the possible. Politics is the protector of the status quo.”
