Rasmussen Presidential Survey: Romney beating Obama by 3, Obama beating Gingrich by 5

Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, earning his highest level of support to date, has edged ahead of President Obama in a hypothetical 2012 matchup.
Head-To-Head: (from December 2) [from November 23]

Mitt Romney 45% (40%) [38%]
Barack Obama 42% (42%) [44%]
A survey of 1,000 likely voters was conducted December 8-9, 2011.  The MOE is +/-3%.

The fact that the media hasn't even focused in on all of Gingrich's baggage and he is still behind Romney in the General election polls is very telling. Once more and more details are released regarding Gingrich's past the lower he will go in General election polls.

Romney on the other hand is fully vetted and there is nothing out there to bring Romney down and that is why you will see more and more negative spun pieces on Romney in the MSM and politico.
