Huck Liked Obama's Deficit Cuts Before He Disliked Them

From Huckabee's Facebook page,
Good to see the President finally get serious about the deficit. Wish he would learn that what you penalize you get less of - what you reward you get more of.
Then from an appearance on Fox News yesterday,

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee says Vice President Joe Biden, who appeared to fall asleep Wednesday during President Barack Obama’s deficit speech, wasn’t sleeping — “he was praying” the American people would not realize the administration is not serious about cutting spending. huckabee, biden, sleeping“Well, he wasn’t sleeping, Judge — he was praying,” Huckabee Wednesday told Judge Andrew Napolitano on Fox News. “He was praying that nobody will find out just how disingenuous they are about actually cutting the expenses, and hoping and praying that the American people don't catch on to the games that they're trying to hoist upon us. “Because I don’t believe for a minute that President Obama was ever serious about reducing spending until he was sort of brought in to this — kicking and screaming,” Huckabee said. “Because the Republicans forced him to accept that people aren’t going to continue to let the government spend them into oblivion.”

So which is it Two Face?

Really, though, if you stare at it long enough, you will see the Rapture.

Dan,

The first comment reflected a courteous hope that Obama was going to say something worth debating.

The second comment reflected his disappointment when Obama failed.

How is that two face?

Have you ever gone to a movie hoping it'll be good, and left disappointed? That doesn't make you a hypocrite.

Matt, the positive comment was posted to Huckabee's Facebook 19 hours ago. That would be at approximately 11 pm Eastern time. So that makes it a response to Obama's speech. Both comments, then, were responses to Obama's speech. Talking out of both mouths indeed.

Dan,

You're right about the timing, so I went back and re-read the quotes. This is sort of like the "gotcha" on Romney and entitlements a couple days ago at that fundraiser.

You have to read it carefully. The first quote he said he is glad Obama is finally getting serious about the DEFICIT. In the interview, he says Obama is not yet serious about CUTTING SPENDING. Two different things. But since he used "serious" both times, an understandable misunderstanding on your part.

Case closed...... :-)

He is no more or no less a hypocrite than every other Republican who support the budget farse. The fact that we ended up geting less than 1% of what we were promised is only part of the problem.
