A majority of Republican mayors and local officials from all over the country meeting in Washington as part of the National League of Cities conference Tuesday picked Mitt Romney as the top GOP presidential contender as part of a surprise straw poll, according to WVC Mayor Mike Winder who conducted the meeting. The results of the 50 or so Republicans were:Mitt Romney 53%
Mike Huckabee 9%
Mitch Daniels 6%
Newt Gingrich 6%
Haley Barbour 3%
Chris Christy 3%
Jon Huntsman 3%
Sarah Palin 3%
Paul Ryan 3%
Ted Turner 3%
Donald Trump 3%
Joe Wilson 3%

Well, this is the most fascinating poll I've seen in a long time. It should be titled 'Competency Survery'. Of course, the anti-Romney folks will just spin this away as more evidence that Romney is the establishment.
Those in the know, know!
When they use the term 'surprise', I'm assuming their was no notice on the poll and the people chose on their first instincts.
Which make the results even more interesting.
Mayors are managers. They want that quality in a President.
The only wonder here is that Mitt only has a 6 to 1 lead over Huckabee among Republican Mayors of cities.
