President Obama has increased his advantage over Sarah Palin since PPP last polled the state late last November, leading her 48-43, up from 46-43. He has improved even more against perhaps the strongest candidate nationally, Mitt Romney, now down only 44-43, versus 47-41 last time. And he is at essentially the same place versus Newt Gingrich, tied at 44% (45-44 deficit previously), and Mike Huckabee, down 49-43 (49-42).Favorable/Unfavorable/Not sure:

I guess that theory is out.
Those are excellent numbers for Romney considering everyone was righting him off in the south.
These polls have to bother Huckafat.
He does well and yet he knows he probably couldn't get the nomination.

Last time I counted Huckabee was leading in the majority of the most recent state polling done:
Huckabee has won 1st place in 16 states plus tied for 1st in 2 (IL, AK, KY, VA, MO, IA, PA, FL, TX, NC, WV, SC, NE, GA, TN, WI tied in NJ, ME)
Romney has won 1st place in 10 states plus tied for 1st in 1 (CT, MA, NV, MI, AZ, CA, CO, UT, NH, RI tied in NJ)
Palin has won 1st place in 5 states (WA, MT, OH, SD, NM)
Gingrich has won 1 tie for 1st place in ME
Even if we eliminate the PPP polling and only use other polling companies that have polled states recently - the race is still between Romney and Huckabee with Romney winning 3 states (NH, MI, UT) and Huckabee winning 2 states (IA, GA)
Romney and Huckabee poll the best in state by state polls, poll the best in national polls, and poll the best against Obama. Electability is a factor in who to vote for. Romney and Huckabee will be the ones to beat.
