Top Three GOP Presidential Candidates

Let's take a poll to see where our consituents are at this point in time of the political process. Here are the rules.

1) To avoid duplicate voting, no anonymous postings will be counted, except those names known to us all such as Ohio Joe.
2) Only votes with three distinct meaningful votes will be counted.
3) The same name can not be used for more than one position in the ranking.

In other words, no John Does, and no 1) Mike Huckabee 2) Mike Huckabee, etc.

I will tally everything on a spreadsheet afterwards. Ok, everybody vote in this format:

1) Mitt Romney
2) Jeb Bush
3) Tim Pawlenty

Jeb is a distant 2nd, and Pawlenty an even more distant 3rd.

Luke, did you see that they all have to be 'meaningful'. I do that for a purpose, and that is to avoid depriving lower placed candidates with their vote totals. Ann Romney?

POLITICO:

Huck: Loughner a 'whack job nut maggot'

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee lashed out at “left-wing politicians” and the media for their handling of Saturday’s mass shooting in Arizona, saying the rush to blame right-wingers for a shooting spree committed by a “whack job nut maggot” was “reprehensible.”

Speaking on his radio show, “The Huckabee Report,” Monday and Tuesday, Huckabee, a top potential 2012 presidential contender, took up one of the right’s favorite themes in the wake of the shooting: that alleged would-be assassin Jared Loughner’s profile aligns more closely with liberals than conservatives, and that so-called “incendiary rhetoric,” which some say might have pushed Loughner over the edge, is equally common on the far left.

“The same people who were so quick to falsely blame the tea party for the bomb planted in Times Square apparently learned nothing from that mistake,” Huckabee said Monday in the show broadcast from duck-hunting country east of Little Rock. “From left-wing politicians to the New York Times’s Paul Krugman, they couldn’t even wait till the gunsmoke had cleared before they were already blaming ‘incendiary right-wing rhetoric’ for the shooter’s crime.”

Huckabee noted that Loughner had been “described by classmates as a very liberal pothead” whose “favorite video shows a burning American flag. That doesn’t sound like any tea partiers I know.”

Huckabee said President Obama was right to call for a moment of silence to honor the victims of the shooting, and “it would be nice if people of any political stripe who pounce on tragedy to slander those they disagree with would also learn the value of silence.”

On Tuesday’s show, Huckabee said the outpouring of prayers for Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and the other victims of the shooting “seem to be working.”

“Unfortunately, the rush to blame the shooter’s actions on too much free speech is already sparking proposals for new laws to limit both the Second and the First amendments,” he said.

Huckabee noted that Loughner, in his first court appearance, “said nothing, but the attempts to paint him as an angry right-winger are looking more absurd with every new fact that we learn about him.”

Loughner had been upset with Giffords since 2007, Huckabee said — “that was before the tea party was born or before most people had ever heard of Sarah Palin.” Loughner was said to believe that the government was behind the Sept. 11 attacks, “so I wonder if the media is going to rush now to blame his crime on Rosie O’Donnell and Charlie Sheen for promoting 9/11 truther propaganda.”

Huckabee said the media didn’t apply the same scrutiny to other attacks with possible political motivations. “It took some in the media months to finally acknowledge, if ever, that the Ft. Hood shootings were the result of an Army officer who was an Islamic jihadist and committed an act of terror,” he said. “But it only took them minutes to falsely decide that the whack job nut maggot who cowardly shot the congresswoman, the little girl who wanted to be in politics, a federal judge and others, was driven by talk radio.”

Now that past incidents like the hanging of Palin in effigy and a mock documentary about the assassination of President George W. Bush have come to light, “the left is now discovering the downside of opening Pandora’s box,” he said.

“Their attacks gave their opponents a golden opportunity to dig it all up out of the festering swamp of history and put it right there out on display,” Huckabee said.

He closed the commentary by citing the Bible, which he called “banned speech in public schools”: “Judge not lest ye be judged.”

Haha, since I realize that this poll is just a poll of our group, I will neither celebrate, nor cry when the results are counted. I will however, congratulate, IG in particular as well as BOSMAN and RW for drumming up interest. In real live polling, let's just say I am not upset. While my candidate still trail, M & M, she is holding her own (especially in certain states) and whenever a pollster askes for seconded and third choices, it shows she has room to grow. In short, I have no reason to jump camps.

Ok, deadline for voting is midnight tonight. I'll compile tomorrow. Many, many will not be counted because of inability to read. Unlike voting in the real ballot box, this one requires basic reading skills.

Yes, OJ, but you see, the intent of this poll had broader goals than to just ascertain ones first choice. You have to be flexible. I guess if reading comprehension was not their problem, it must have been stubborness?

Iguy, I think a lot of them just rushed through it without reading your instructions. It's not as easy to get folks to come here AND vote with this type of format. As you can imagine, C4P followers have had a massive amount of threads, articles, comments and various links to sift through over the past few days. If this poll would have been commissioned in normal times, I suspect Palin would have received 2-3 times as many votes as she did. I only posted the link twice..once yesterday, and once this morning. Having said that, it was a great idea to do the poll.

I remember the same thing happened at ROS under similar polling circumstances. Palin supporters were so carried away with themselves, they voted three times in arow there as well.

I was only teasing before, because obviously people were voting 3 times to make a point.

We get it..."Nobody but Sarah" - as if we weren't quite certian how you all felt.

Right Wingnut said...

Looks like it's about to be wraapped up. Looks like 22 for Palin, 20 for Romney and 2 for Huckabee, if we throw out the ones not signed and the ones that didn't give three candidate choices. I recognize all the anons other than 1 or 2 of them. It will be interesting to see how I-Guy sees it....

Anonymous said...

I know I'm too late for this exercise in futility but I will cast my vote anyway. Originally I wanted to vote:

1. Palin
2. Palin
3. Palin

BUT, since the moderator cannot take a joke, nor realize that some anons are doing that to make Palin supporters look bad then I am forced to follow the rules.

SO:

1. Palin
2. Ryan
3. Pence

Totals: If we count the vote that had Limbaugh and Levin as 2nd and 3rd place, then I should count Ann Romney; BUT I won't.

Palin: 22
Romney: 20

Nobody else is worth mentioning really.

Worthy of mention is Pence who had 9 second place votes and 1 third.
DeMint's 7 second and 3 thirds were decent.

Observations: Nobody who voted for Mitt had either Palin or Huckabee for 2nd or third.

ONE Palin voter had Mitt for second, and one had him for third. NOTE: I don't think this is indicative of the real world Palin voters, because when they pulled Palin out of the Iowa poll, Mitt got a good percentage of them. It's a blogosphere thing coming from the fact that most of the Palin people have 'grown up' eating the C4P corn.

Now those of you from other worlds who have managed to find this place, stick around and get your feet wet. This won't be an echo chamber as you have been used to. So, if you like to just here how great Sarah is 24/7 better stay elsewhere.

Have a great day.

Many C4P members are active on several sites. I recognize screen names on other sites all the time. It no different than MRC. That is where you kool-aide drinkers go to relax and share information about your hero.:)

Thanks for posting the results. I agree that in the real world, more Romney supporters would choose Palin as their second choice....and vice versa. Good job on this.
