Small Criticism of the Romney Campaign
However, he has to become President first. September is half gone. October is only 30 days, then Nov 6th, is just a week away. 49 days left. All of his avid defenders said, just wait. Wait until after the conventions. Mitt will open up then.
We know that of the swing states, Ohio is one of the biggest. The Cleveland Browns were playing the Cincinnati Bengals today. Two major markets in Ohio. Pretty much the entire state would be watching that game. It was reported that the Obama campaign had at least one 1-minute ad during the game. Romney had zero. WHAT'S UP WITH THAT?!
The NFL is broadly accepted by both Republicans and Democrats alike. It is a very blue-collar type of game. These are the voters Mitt needs in Ohio, especially. This was a missed opportunity.
Now, for a dose of reality. In the grand scheme of things, it may not be that big of a deal. Obama is doing a fine job shooting himself in the foot. But if no one sees that he's just shot himself, did it really happen? We know the media will not report the facts of the recent international mess in such a way to make the President look bad (unlike what they did to President Bush.) So, Team Romney, tell the story!
I am patient. But when a one-off opportunity presents itself, attack it! And this Browns/Bengals game would have been a perfect opportunity. In my opinion, of course.

Youtube Yanks Romney Ad
If you didn't like the Political Payoffs and Middle Class Layoffs ad, no worries, it has been taken down. Despite its Fair Use usage, BMG has issued a DMCA notice takedown (most likely illegally, I might add). Despite it being Obama singing it, Romney using less than 15 seconds of the song, and BMG’s refusal to sue Obama over public performance of the song, Youtube has taken the ad down.Perhaps ironically, BMG and Crown/Random House (which published both of Obama’s books, his campaign plan, and Michelle Obama’s new book) are — despite Obama’s concerns about “outsourcing” — all owned by German conglomerate Bertlesmann AG, which bills itself as “the world’s most international media company.”
Unfortunately, I don't have the time to research or resources to investigate the intricacies of this take-down notice. But the DMCA requires certain steps to be taken before Youtube, or any other hosting site, is legally required to pull a video or audio clip. The whole thing stinks to high heaven that Youtube summarily yanked it so quickly. Team Romney is on sure legal footing to declare the video of Obama singing (not the original artist) no more than 5 seconds of a song to be FAIR USE and require Youtube to relist the video.
Let's watch the ad below. When the graphic changes from the youtube yanked image to an actual image from the video, you'll know it is back up.

Bill O'Reilly op-ed: Gipper's Ghost for Mitt To Channel
The ghost of Ronald Reagan is about to haunt President Barack Obama. If Mitt Romney has any political savvy at all, he will begin channeling the late president and introduce his ghost into the economic debate forthwith.Read the rest HERE.
Back in July of 1980, when Reagan was challenging President Jimmy Carter, the unemployment rate in America was 7.8 percent — close to what it is now. But the inflation rate was more than 13 percent, and that was eroding American wealth at a frightening clip. Reagan seized on the economic turmoil to hammer Carter as an incompetent, and that won the election for the former actor and governor of California.

David Frum Destroys Mark Levin
1) Levin offers 100% zero policy content in his rebuttal. Whether (or not) the Massachusetts reform yielded good results, whether (or not) it added to costs, what (if any) differences it made to health outcomes - none of these merit mention in Levin's reply. The argument is all about abstract principles.
Which is not to gainsay the importance of principles only:
2) The principles being articulated are both extreme and incoherent.
Levin's principled objection is to any government requiring citizens to buy a service from a private company. At the federal level such a requirement is unconstitutional (he argues); at the state level, it is destructive of liberty even if constitutional.
Levin has to use some delicate phraseology here to avoid such problems as : Was it unconstitutional back in 1792 for the federal government to require male citizens of the appropriate age to buy guns and enroll in their state militias? What about requiring car insurance from all drivers? Is a compulsory vaccination against an infectious disease an abuse of government power if the injections are administered by private doctors?
And notice the destination at which these convoluted distinctions finally arrive:
Since Levin does not want to argue that Social Security and Medicare are unconstitutional, he is forced to argue that the real evil of Obamacare and Romneycare is that they rely on private insurance. Had they taxed citizens to finance a federal single-payer program, that would be quite OK!
A structured and subsidized private market becomes, in the Levin telling, a much more pernicious assault on liberty than a British style National Health Service!
How can that make any sense?
It does not. The seemingly principled argument is in fact utterly ad hoc, developed on the fly to score a point against a hated opponent without alienating an audience of senior citizens who would throw the radio out the window if Levin told them what he truly thought about the social programs they depend on.
