The family of Lola Daviet, a 12-year-old girl who was tortured, raped and murdered in France have walked out of court after jurors were shown horrific images of her brutalized body.
Three years after the shocking death of the schoolgirl, the long-awaited trial against Dahbia Benkired, an Algerian migrant living illegally in Paris, began on Friday.
Homeless Benkired, 27, is accused of luring the young girl into her sister’s apartment, where Lola’s parents worked as caretakers.
Investigators allege Benkired sexually assaulted Lola, hit her with scissors and a box cutter, before tying her up with duct tape, including around her face, causing to her death by asphyxia.
The schoolgirl’s naked body was then stuffed into a plastic trunk and dumped on the street outside her parent’s workplace where it was later found.
As court proceedings kicked off, Benkired reportedly asked for forgiveness, France 24 reports.
“I apologise to the whole family,” Benkired said in a monotone. “It’s horrible what I did. I regret it.”
The judge ruled she was competent to stand trial.
However, the gruesome and graphic nature of the evidence was reportedly too much for Lola’s family, with several outlets stating her mother Delphine had to walk out of the court as horrific images of their daughter were shown to the Assize Court, a criminal court that tries the most serious offences in France. --->READ MORE HERE
The homeless woman charged in the murder of a 12-year-old Paris girl who was found stuffed inside a suitcase reportedly told investigators that she had forced the child to take a shower before sexually assaulting her — and then boasted about “selling body parts.”
Dahbia B., who was indicted Monday in the grisly killing of 12-year-old Lola Daviet, told investigators that she took the girl to her sister’s apartment, forced her to take a shower and then “committed harm of a sexual nature and other violent acts against (Lola) that caused her death,” according to Agence France-Presse.
Lola’s mutilated body was found stuffed in a suitcase several streets away from her home with her hands and feet bound with tape.
The numerals 1 and 0 were also bizarrely written in red on the soles of her feet, according to AFP. Earlier, it was reported that the numbers were “placed” on her corpse.
The young girl died due to “cardio-respiratory failure with signs of asphyxia and cervical compression,” according to the autopsy, which said she also had other wounds on her face and back, as well as large gashes on her neck.
“Evidence suggests that the girl was taken into the basement of the flat, where she was tortured and raped before being strangled and having her throat cut,” a law enforcement source told the Daily Mail.
When shown photos of the girl’s gruesome remains, Dahbia, 24, reportedly told authorities, “It does not make me hot or cold. I too was raped and saw my parents die in front of me,” according to the Mail. --->READ MORE HERE
