The French have voted in the left and blocked Marine Le Pen’s path to power. Have the French signed their own death warrant?
The left has won the second round and overall voting in France. While Marine Le Pen’s rightist National Rally had its best showing to date, it came in third, behind the left and Macron’s pseudo-centrist parties. What have the French brought upon themselves and why?
Across the Channel, the British voters gave Labor a massive victory over the reeling Tories and upstart Reform. Mark Steyn defined a conservative as one who adopts leftist policies ten years after the liberals. And thus, fourteen years of Tory rule were not dedicated to making Brexit a ringing success or controlling immigration. Rather, the various Tory leaders who came and went focused on climate change, on massaging ever greater illegal immigration, as well as the downsizing of the armed forces to the point where England could fight Tasmania and it would probably be a draw. The vaunted British Navy went years without any aircraft carrier, and now that two new ones have been built, they often do not work. The fall of the Tories is the work of their own hands. They were given years to enact a pro-UK, pro-business agenda and instead monitored Facebook posts for anti-trans content and forced people to buy expensive and inefficient heat pumps.
But what happened in France? I heard a few clips of the younger Le Pen. She said point-blank that anyone was welcome in France, but that he or she would have to accept the French way and become a part of the local culture. She would ban Salafism and imams who preached hate. This does not sound like some type of revolutionary, Hitlerian program. The French were always culturally proud and culture snobs. One could go to Paris and not find anyone who spoke English, because French was the language and one needed nothing else. The French were appalled by English words entering their lexicon and were proud of their history, their food, and their way of life. How many thousands of Resistance fighters lost their lives trying to rid the country of the Nazi scourge? 50,000 Frenchmen were killed by Allied bombing directed at the same goal. It was de Gaulle’s men who were put at the front of the line to enter Paris first. French pride easily became French chauvinism, but it all pointed to an incredible love of the French people for their country, culture, and history. It is only during the past decade or so that Michelin has ventured outside of France to look for superior dining options.
The rise of the left means more uncontrolled immigration. It means even less effort to integrate Muslims into the fabric of French society. And that is a point that needs to be emphasized. A conservative couldn’t care less what a French person looks like: black, brown, white, etc. But that person should have fidelity to France as his or her country and a respect for the local culture and ways. The problem occurs when a large percentage of immigrants simply bring Islamabad or Kabul with them and not only refuse to become part of the local fabric but actively look down upon their hosts and threaten to take over their new countries via Sharia law. My father used to chuckle to himself when he spoke to second-generation Turks in Germany. Their German was flawless and they were German citizens. He laughed because he grew up in 1930s Germany, when the “master race” would have looked at Turks or any non-Aryans as impure and defective. Thus, he was happy to see Germans who were Turkish rather than Germanic. Based on the recent rioting by ethnic Turks in Berlin over the Netherlands defeating Turkey in the EURO24, today’s Germans might not be laughing so much. --->READ MORE HERE
Is there a future for Jews in France?
The surge in antisemitism continues in France. In the last three months of 2023, there were more antisemitic incidents reported in the country than in the previous three years combined. Grande Synagogue of Paris Chief Rabbi Moshe Sebbag has issued a gloomy prediction: “It is clear today that there is no future for Jews in France. I tell everyone who is young to go to Israel or a more secure country.”
The Jews of France remember the gang of Muslim Arabs and Africans who kidnapped and tortured to death Ilan Halimi. They remember the murders of two elderly women., 65-year-old Sarah Halimi and 85- year-old Mireille Knoll. Sarah Halimi was beaten with a phone and then with his fists by Kobili Traoré, a drug dealer and drug addict, who then defenestrated her while shouting “Allahu akbar.” Traoré had previously frightened Halimi with repeated antisemitic insults. Mireille Knoll was an 85-year-old Holocaust survivor who was stabbed eleven times, and then set on fire by Yacine Milhoub, a Muslim neighbor whom she had known, befriended, and taken care of since he was a little boy. Then there were the four Jews who were murdered at the Hyper Cacher kosher market at the Porte de Vincennes by Amedy Coulibaly. In Toulouse, Rabbi Jonathan Sandler was murdered, along with his two little boys, Aryeh, aged six, and Gavriel, aged three, in front of the city’s Jewish school. Eight-year-old Myriam Monsonego, daughter of the school’s head teacher, tried to escape the killer, Mohammed Merah, who chased her into the courtyard, caught her by her hair and raised a gun to shoot her. The gun jammed at this point. He changed weapons from what the police identified as a 9mm pistol to a .45 calibre gun, and shot the girl in her temple at point-blank range. These are just some of the stories of Muslims murdering Jews in France.
There is also the daily fare of taunts to Jewish pupils in classrooms, beatings in the schoolyards, the harassing of Jewish passengers in the metro, on buses, in trains. There are the street robberies of Jews who are especially targeted because, so many Muslims believe, “Jews have all the money,” there is the vandalism in Jewish cemeteries, with swastikas painted on gravestones, the “Mort aux Juifs” (Death to the Jews) scrawled on the walls of synagogues, the sexual assaults of Jewish girls and women to take “revenge for Palestine,” and most recently, the rape of a 12-year-old Jewish girl by three Muslims.
The latest example of this antisemitic crime wave took place in Val d’Oise, where two Muslim men proceeded to beat and knock down an 88-year-old Jewish woman who was on her way to a doctor’s appointment and made the mistake of wearing a neckless with a Star of David attached.
