Pentagon’s ‘woke’ policies in crosshairs of Republican-controlled House next Congress:

Top officials at the Pentagon insist they’ve seen no impact from so-called woke social policies inside the military.

But public confidence in the military has plunged in recent years, with polls showing that 50% of Americans cite those practices as one of the main reasons for their diminished opinion about the armed forces. Republican lawmakers say they’ve heard from scores of service members who claim the Pentagon‘s growing focus on liberal social policies is distracting from the military’s larger mission.

Those dueling world views will be thrust into the spotlight when Republicans take control of the House in January. Key figures in the GOP are set to zero in on the apparent gulf between the priorities of the Pentagon brass and the experiences of those in the rank and file.

“There’s a massive disconnect. I think you have to be almost willfully blind to it,” said Rep. Mike Gallagher, Wisconsin Republican, a former Marine himself and the incoming chairman of the House‘s new House Select Committee on China.

Mr. Gallagher cited the most recent Ronald Reagan Institute defense survey, released earlier this month, showing 50% of Americans cite “woke practices” as a key reason for their decreased confidence in the military.

“We’ve had so many high-profile incidents that you can no longer deny it’s happening,” Mr. Gallagher told The Washington Times in a recent exclusive interview. “Reasonable adults could disagree about the impact and utility of the woke agenda, but you can no longer deny that it exists.”

The debate over woke policies — the teaching of critical race theory, a disproportionate focus on diversity and inclusivity training, gender identity, even the Pentagon‘s recent fight to demand mandatory COVID-19 vaccination for all those in the ranks — is nearing the boiling point. But Pentagon officials for the most part deny that a woke agenda, however defined, exists at all.

Marines told to stop using ‘sir,’ ‘ma’am’ to avoid ‘misgendering’ superiors:

No more “Yes, sir!”

The US Marines may ban recruits from respectfully addressing senior members as “sir” or “ma’am” to avoid “misgendering” and offending them.

The woke recommendation was made in a new $2 million report commissioned by the Corps from the University of Pittsburgh.

The exhaustive, 738-page study that the Marines first commissioned in 2020 said traditional ways of addressing superiors were holding back gender integration.

“Employing gender-neutral identifiers eliminates the possibility of misgendering drill instructors, which can unintentionally offend or cause discord,” the study said.

“By teaching recruits to use gender-neutral identifiers for their drill instructors, Services underscore the importance of respecting authoritative figures regardless of gender.”

The two-year study by the University of Pittsburgh’s Warrior Human Performance Research Center also said that “the Army, Navy, and Coast Guard effectively de-emphasize gender in an integrated environment.” --->READ MORE HERE
