Florida will not have programs focused on jabbing 6-month-old babies with mRNA vaccinations, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) said on Monday, defending his administration’s decision to advise against coronavirus shots for young children.
“The White House is lying about it,” DeSantis said during a press conference in Nassau County after being asked about the White House apparently asserting that Florida had “reversed” its decision on child vaccines.
“They [the establishment media] came out with an article saying the state of Florida has not ordered, its Department of Health has not ordered mRNA jabs for the babies. Yes, we recommend against it. We are not going to have any programs where we’re trying to jab six-month-old babies with mRNA. That’s just the reality,” he said to applause.
“And I think what happened was they thought somehow we would like be embarrassed by that. No, we’re following the data,” he said, adding that “we still have not ordered it, we’re not gonna order it.”
“Now what they’re saying is because practitioners and hospitals can order it somehow we’ve reversed,” he said, explaining that it has remained his position from the beginning, making it clear that doctors would be able to do that, as the state is not prohibiting the use of the vaccines for the youngest children.
“I said from the beginning they’ll be able to do that. We don’t have the authority to prevent it. And quite frankly, if someone wants to make a different decision, I would just caution people look at the actual data in the clinical trial. It is the weakest possible data that you could possibly see — very small number of people. What the recommendation is from them doesn’t even track the outcomes,” he said, adding that people can “ask their pediatricians, they can ask their doctors what’s the evidence of protection against severe disease. --->READ MORE HERE

A group of prominent doctors and educators has asked the Biden administration to lift pandemic-related measures that could be causing children to miss school and other activities.
“We strongly urge you to revise the CDC’s COVID-19 guidelines with regard to testing, isolation, and vaccine recommendations for children to ensure that public health policies are not doing more harm than good,” says a letter sent by Urgency of Normal — a group that has argued for a steady return to pre-pandemic behaviors — to Dr. Ashish Jha, director of the White House pandemic response team, and Rochelle Walensky, head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
“The CDC’s COVID-19 school guidelines continue to cause significant disruption to children’s education and to working parents, while providing no demonstrable public health benefit in limiting COVID-19 spread. These policies have serious unintended consequences,” the Urgency of Normal letter argues.
The group is led by doctors including Lucy McBride, a Washington, D.C., physician, and Vinay Prasad, an oncologist at the University of California, San Francisco.
