Using Jihadists in Ukraine May Be Backfiring on Russia; Who is Nikolai Patrushev, Russian reportedly in charge during Putin’s cancer recovery?; ‘Finest hour’: Boris Johnson says Ukraine will beat Russia, LIVE UPDATES and MORE

Using Jihadists in Ukraine May Be Backfiring on Russia:
The correct answer to the question, "When should you arm and deploy Jihadists? is, "Absolutely never."
Unfortunately, it's a lesson that absolutely nobody has learned. That includes us, it also includes the Russians. Putin envisions a Greater Russia built around an Islamic alliance and has claimed that Islam is closer to Russian Orthodoxy than any other form of Christianity.
In his responses to questions, Putin stresses that “Caucasians must not be afraid to live in Moscow or Russians to live in the North Caucasus.” Instead, he continued, “all citizens of Russia of whatever faith or nationality must recognize that we have a single common Motherland”

“From very beginning,” the Russian leader said, “Russia was built up as a multi-national and multi-confessional state.” And after saying that “the state exists to serve the interests of the majority,” he added, “you know, we have Eastern Christianity and certain theoreticians say that it is much closer to Islam than [Roman] Catholicism is.”
It's a convenient rationalization that makes a mockery of Putin's "Defender of Christianity" posturing when sending Chechen Jihadists into a Christian country. --->READ MORE from Daniel Greenfield HERE
Who is Nikolai Patrushev, Russian reportedly in charge during Putin’s cancer recovery?
As rumors swirl about Russian President Vladimir Putin’s supposed battle with cancer, a new report claims the strongman would temporarily hand power over to hardliner Nikolai Patrushev if health issues sidelined him.
The claims have not been independently verified, and Moscow roundly denies that Putin is in ill health. But who is the man who will helm the Kremlin if Putin takes a sick day?
Nikolai Patrushev, 70, is the secretary of Russia’s Security Council, an influential body that answers directly to Putin and issues guidance on military and security issues within Russia. Most of the council’s power is vested in Patrushev, who is widely seen as a staunch Putin ally.
Like Putin, Patrushev is a career Russian intelligence agent, first with the Soviet KGB, then later with the Russian FSB, according to the English-language newspaper Moscow Times. The paper likened Patrushev’s role to that of an American national security adviser.
In a 2017 profile, Politico called Patrushev a “Kremlin hawk” known for his “fiery nationalism, conspiratorial worldview and extensive espionage experience.” --->READ MORE HERE
