Joe Biden stood by his previous support for allowing China into the World Trade Organization and granting it favorable trade status.
In an interview that aired Thursday, CNN host Jake Tapper challenged the Democratic presidential nominee on his stance from when he was vice president. "It is in our self-interest that China continue to prosper," Biden said in 2011.
"A lot of people think that allowing China into the World Trade Organization, which you supported, extending most-favored nation status to China, which you supported, that those steps allowed China to take advantage of the United States by using our own open trade deals against us," Tapper said. Former Vice President Joe Biden and Democrat Senate candidate Mark Kelly both enriched themselves through China, said Arizona Republican Party Chairman Dr. Kelli Ward on Tuesday’s edition of SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Tonight with host Matt Boyle.
Kelly, the husband of former Rep. Gabby Giffords (D-AZ), is running against incumbent Sen. Martha McSally (R-AZ) for the U.S. Senate seat to represent Arizona.
Ward noted China’s preference for Biden over President Donald Trump. Biden has repeatedly dismissed geopolitical threats to the U.S. posed by the one-party state while advocating for increased integration of the American and Chinese economies and political systems.
“We’ve heard from intelligence agencies that China wants Joe Biden, because they they certainly don’t want the kind of strength that President Trump brings to the table,” Ward said.
