The left and the elite press class have a reason they need to win on Roy Moore. If they can paint even a committed evangelical as a sexual abuser, the ultimate target is the president himself.
"Never let a crisis go to waste" is the left's mantra, repeated by Rahm Emanuel early in President Obama's first term. This applies to every kind of crisis, including the latest spate of sexual harassment revelations rocking Hollywood and beyond.
Now don't get me wrong: The dam holding back the cesspool of the worst abusers in the entertainment business needed to be unplugged, and the cesspool needed to be drained. We are all better off when the Harvey Weinsteins, Charlie Sheens, and Kevin Spaceys of this world are exposed for what they are.
And now we have Roy Moore in the political cesspool. Politics has always bred its share of abusive, sex-crazed offenders. It's also been a hive of who-sleeps-with-whom, going back to FDR, John F. Kennedy, and of course Ted Kennedy, who never got his prize due to a particular drive into the cold waters of Cape Cod. Not to mention (but I will) Larry Craig, Dennis Hastert, and umm, Bill Clinton. Sex is not particular to political party. Let's hope Christian conservatives come to their senses.
The Roy Moore debacle is what you get when you defend "grab em by the -----".
This was entirely predictable.
So called Christians - the Huckabee crowd, didn't like Romney. They never had any reason, besides his faith. So they called him all sorts of names, and spread all sorts of lies about him. In reality Romney was EXACTLY the type of man Christian conservatives should have wanted.
A man of character, moral clarity, kindness, intelligence, principles, and devotion to God.
Nope, he wasn't good enough for them.
They then embraced the polar opposite: a man with zero intelligence, character, decency or morals. A man who lies, insults, and embarrasses America and the GOP day in and day out.
But they love him. They can't get enough of his proud ignorance and repugnance. They scream for more.
Their behavior concerning Trump and Moore perfectly substantiates the left's parody of them, but they don't have a clue.
I used to think I was one of them. I thought being a "Christian conservative" meant something real. It doesn't.

Please try to show a little perspective. Evangelicals voted overwhelmingly for Mitt Romney. The Democrats, whom you and Joel have been rhetorically supporting, treated Romney very badly and did NOT vote for him. I don’t understand why people cannot return loyalty.
