ILLEGALS Needn't Apply: Trump Budget Would Require Social Security Number For Child Care, Earned Income Tax Credits

We'll start at the beginning. Yes, apparently receiving tax breaks from the U.S. government for child care or low wages doesn't currently require that you have a Social Security number.
At least according to CNS News, which reported this week on the new requirement in President Trump's budget. Under the new rule, "those receiving the child care tax credit and the earned income tax credit now must have a Social Security number to claim those tax credits," the news agency reported.
White House Budget Director Mick Mulvaney explained how the rule would work -- and why it is needed.
“We talk about how to prioritize spending and how to look at programs that work and don't work. The childcare tax credit and the earned income tax credit. One of our proposals is that we are going to require you to have a Social Security number now to collect those,” ...
