Republican Sen. Mike Lee of Utah laid out his case for why he hasn’t yet endorsed Donald Trump, openly airing his concerns about the presumptive GOP presidential nominee’s controversial stances heading into the general election.
When asked why he’s not on the trail “trumpeting Trump,” Mr. Lee vented his frustrations and greivances with Mr. Trump to NewsMaxTV’s Steve Malzberg.
“Hey, look Steve, I get it. You want me to endorse Trump. We can get into that if you want,” said Mr. Lee. “We can get into the fact that he accused my best friend’s father of conspiring to kill JFK” — referring to Mr. Trump circulating a supermarket tabloid report that somehow Sen. Ted Cruz’s dad was in league with Lee Harvey Oswald.
He continued: “We can go through the fact that he’s made some statements that some have identified correctly as religiously intolerant. We can get into the fact that he’s wildly unpopular in my state, in part because my state consists of people who are members of a religious minority church. A people who were ordered exterminated by the governor of Missouri in 1838. And statements like that make them nervous.”Read the rest of the story HERE.
