Donald Trump appears to be backing away from one of his signature and most controversial proposals—banning Muslims from entering the U.S.—as polls show him falling slightly behind Hillary Clinton.
Since Mr. Trump essentially clinched the GOP presidential nomination in May, amid widespread popularity of his proposed ban among primary voters, he has gradually moved away from a blanket religious ban and toward a more nuanced policy targeting countries with a record of terrorism.
Mr. Trump’s policy director, Stephen Miller, said in an interview with The Wall Street Journal on Monday, “The best way to prevent continued radicalization from developing inside America is to suspend temporarily immigration from regions that have been a major source for terrorists and their supporters coming to the U.S.”
But the evolution of the policy has come in fits and starts, with conflicting statements by Mr. Trump that have confused some of his strongest supporters on Capitol Hill. Mr. Trump has never said he was wrong about the temporary Muslim ban or explicitly said he was abandoning that policy.
Asked about the confusion, one of Mr. Trump’s top foreign-policy advisers, retired Rear Admiral Charles Kubic, said he was “working with the campaign to address this issue.” He said he expected a statement from the campaign headquarters this week.Read the rest of the story HERE.

Trump lies about everything because he cares about nothing.
His "good brain" is empty. There's just not much going on upstairs.
But his supporters don't care, and demand no accountability on his endless lies, flip-flops, racism, and indecent behavior.
I'm utterly certain that he actually could shoot someone on fifth avenue, and his supporters would still defend him.
Shame on them, and shame on us for allowing this to continue.

I certainly hold him accountable. Bottom line is Trump will restrict Muslim immigration. The details will have to be worked out. Rand Paul offered an amendment last year addressing the subject, but the establishment is against any restrictions.
As we all remember, the last nominee flip flopped on his entire set of policies mid stream, by suggesting it was just etch a sketch. I don't want to bash Romney, whom I supported, but Trump's supposed transgressions have been even worse in the past.
cimbri, that's just not true about Romney. And he never said etch a sketch, it was a poorly chosen comment from someone in the campaign. Can't remember who right now. Romney didn't change on one single issue for the general. Romney was excoriated for flip flops, but he never was a actual flip-flopper at all. Except on life, and that change was over a very long period.
Trump flip-flops and lies with reckless abandon. Daily, sometimes hourly. Mid-debate, or mid-sentence. It's because he has no values, and knows nothing. Plus he lies his a** off every single day. Blatant, ridiculous lies that no one believes.
I don't see any of his supporters holding him accountable at all. They cheer him on no matter how dishonest, incoherent, unprepared, or indecent he is.
He most certainly called for a complete ban on Muslims entering the US. That was wrong, bigoted and un-Constitutional. Now he's changing his tune, and his campaign is bald-faced lying about the change.
This can't get any sillier or more alarming, imo. He's nothing but a sad, pathetic clown at this point, dragging the entire GOP down with him. People have worked for decades on conservative values, trying to bring more people into the fold. All that is being flushed right down the drain with the most obnoxious and unqualified candidate ever. We won't recover from it, maybe not ever.
The only way to prevent further disaster is for the delegates to do the right thing and Dump Trump. It's the obviously right thing to do.
