The conservative advocacy group Club for Growth is ratcheting up its campaign against Republican front-runner Donald Trump, with its first-ever presidential endorsement, of Texas Sen. Ted Cruz.
The group’s political action committee announced the endorsement in a Wednesday statement, calling Mr. Cruz “the best free-market, pro-growth, limited-government candidate in the presidential race.”
“The Club’s PAC has never endorsed in a presidential race, but this year is different because there is a vast gulf between the two leading Republican candidates on matters of economic liberty,” said Club for Growth President David McIntosh in a statement.
Formed in 1999, the organization generally backs conservative, free-trade and free-market candidates. It has long been critical of Mr. Trump’s candidacy over his positions on trade and the size and scope of the federal government.Read the rest of the story HERE.
