Worrying That The Ayatollah Might Stop Trusting America

The Iran Deal: Secretary of State John Kerry provided a sad peek at the heart of the left's "tough diplomacy." It's all about convincing Islamist terrorists to trust the America they consider the Great Satan.
Why, in the unlikely event two-thirds of both houses of Congress overrode an Obama veto on the Iran nuclear pact, couldn't the U.S. and Tehran return to the negotiating table for a better deal?
"Because," Kerry told MSNBC Thursday, "the ayatollah will believe he can't negotiate with the administration, that they can't deliver." That would be "the ultimate act of proving we can't be trusted," he said. "We would lose leverage not just on this; we'd lose leverage across the board in the world."
One can imagine that if the agreement with Tehran did fall apart, suddenly all of Obama's military and foreign policy failures around the world would become the fault of those who opposed appeasing Iran. This is what we'd be getting from White House talking points and the lap-dog media.
It can't be denied that if this horrendous pact were not finalized, a U.S. that has looked very bad on the world stage for 6 1/2 years would look foolish in an all-new way. We spent endless months negotiating a bad deal, then managed to convince all our friends and allies except Israel that it's a good deal. And then we back out.
But who painted us into this supposed corner? It was President Obama and Secretary Kerry.
