Mitt Romney will Host a Fundraiser for Ed Gillespie in Virginia

Ed Gillespie emerged as a trusted adviser to 2012 Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney during his losing White House bid. Now, Mr. Romney is returning the favor. 
The GOP White House nominee is hosting a fundraiser for Mr. Gillespie later this month as the former Republican National Committee chairman tries to unseat Democratic Sen. Mark Warner in Virginia.
Mr. Romney is head-lining a general reception at The Essex House hotel in New York City on March 25 and a dinner afterward at the home of Stephen Schwarzman, the founder and chief executive of private-equity giant the Blackstone Group, according to a copy of the invite that went out to donors on Thursday. 
Mr. Romney has stepped up his political involvement in recent weeks, endorsing state Sen. Joni Ernst last week ahead of a crowded Republican primary to fill an open Senate seat in Iowa later this year. Like, Mr. Gillespie, the Ernst endorsement represented payback of sorts to a loyal supporter who publicly backed the former Massachusetts governor in 2008 and again in 2012.
