Poll: Cruz new GOP 2016 frontrunner

That didn't take long. Skeptics will suggest that it's too early to be tagged with the "frontrunner" label.  In most cases, I would agree. However, Cruz is far less likely than most to wilt under pressure, or commit a major gaffe. I suspect he'll handle it just fine.

Also of note...Rand Paul is currently only three points behind Cruz. Primary voters have obviously had enough of the establishment wing of the party. At least for now......
PPP's newest national poll finds Ted Cruz is now the top choice of Republican primary voters to be their candidate for President in 2016. He leads the way with 20% to 17% for Rand Paul, 14% for Chris Christie, 11% for Jeb Bush, 10% each for Marco Rubio and Paul Ryan, 4% for Bobby Jindal, and 3% each for Rick Santorum and Scott Walker.......

I am not sure that one poll makes him the front-runner, but it is nice to anticipate a meltdown from Pablo and company.

That was the purpose of my post, OJ. Whether they weigh in or not, you know it probably ruined their day. Haha

It's not an easy feat for a man unknown to 99.9% of America less than a year ago.

Katrina, I know you're heartbroken that Romney wasnt included in the poll, but trust me, it's a good thing. The 1-2% he would have garnered would have completely snuffed out any deluded hope you and a few others seem to be clinging to.

Actually, "write in" won the last poll I saw (about a week ago), and Ted Cruz was on the ballot. Sorry.

Hey, there you go. "Someone else/ not sure" got 9% in this poll. Maybe they're for Mitt. ;) ;) ;)

Right on RW, Katrina is in meltdown mode as Mr. Cruz leads her candidate by at least a 2 to 1 margin. It is kind of funny to see the RINOs become so bitter against the new reality.

Comment from Hot Air's post on this poll.

How is Romney doing?
Oh wait, he’s the only Mormon in the world who didn’t know how to organize a door to door operation.

I think some are a tad premature in declaring victory for Ted. lol

You guys need to get over your bitterness about Romney, though. Move on.

The GOP is getting exactly what it deserves. Until there is some union and compromise, ain't nothin gonna go right for us. In fact, this little microcosm here at rightspeak is very instructive. Lots of name-calling and assuming the worst. OJ and RW, you seem to have the corner on this, sadly.

Whether you like it or not, you need regular old garden variety Republicans, and they need the tea party. And the truth is that the tea party is not really represented by the loud mouth dividers. By and large, the tea party has common sense, and the right motives. I can't say that for the so-called tea party leaders.

Why do we fight each other when we ought to fight the lying, arrogant sack of crap in the White house?!

The only bitterness i have for Romney, is that we're stuck with 4 more years of Obama. I had no problem voting for him, which is more than can be said for others who have already stated they wouldn't choose Cruz over Obama. I have no doubt Romney would have tried to repeal the law, but it still would have proved difficult with the gutless leadership we have in the Senate.

Cry me a river Martha, get over your bitterness against Free Markets.

OJ, what the H are you talking about? That is exactly what I mean in my comment above. You accuse me of ridiculous things. Please stop telling me what I believe! Please stop telling me what I am! I can do that for myself, thank you.

This is exactly what we need to avoid, electing an unknown. Rick Perry was 'the GOP frontrunner' according to our press. It is a smear campaign. They are smearing Republicans. They create a straw man, as they did with their golden boy McCain. It is all lies.

Haven't seen details, but report said this: "The Public Policy Polling survey found that 20 percent of those surveyed supported Mr. Cruz, Texas Republican, while 17 percent supported Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, 14 percent supported New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and 11 percent supported former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush."

People weren't given conservative options, and Rand was a close second. Not meaningful. Proves nothing. Christie, Paul, and Bush? Whatever.
