Mitt Romney to bolster his Communications Team

Mitt Romney is planning to fortify his communications and messaging team by adding seasoned operatives, advisers close to the campaign said Thursday, after withering criticism from prominent conservative voices that his insular team has fumbled recent opportunities.

Romney’s advisers insisted that he would keep his inner circle intact amid growing concerns about the Republican presidential candidate and his campaign.
This appears to only be a move to bolster areas of the campaign where Romney feels they may be spread a little thin as the campaign goes into the final push.

No heads appear to be ready to roll.

“The idea that somebody other than Beth Myers, Eric Fehrnstrom, Matt Rhoades, Stuart Stevens and Peter Flaherty are going to call the shots, it’s just plain wrong,” Rath said, ticking through Romney’s closest advisers, including Rhoades, the campaign manager, and Stevens, the chief strategist.

Gail Gitcho, the campaign’s communications director, said, “Governor Romney respects the team that he has, and he has full confidence in their abilities.”

Romney should hire John Sununu as his front mam.

The Guy is super intelligent, as good a debater as Newt Gingrich, and has a take no prisoners attitude.

I am also a Sununu fan. I have enjoyed watching him take on the liberal media and swat them away like flies. He definitely has that no-nonsense approach as to how he interacts with the media and stays on point. He may be too direct for some and labeled too controversial by others. I like him.

I had the same thought yesterday when everyone in the media was piling on the Romney campaign: Put John Sununu out there everyday in front of the TV cameras confronting these idiot interviewers. He knows how to punch back succinctly and often with a sly touch of humor as he pulverizes the other side.

Keeping Fehrstrom's mouth away from a microphone would be a huge improvement. This guy has made 2 of the biggest gaffe's at critical times during the campaign.
