Obama really is the Food Stamp President

The vast majority of federal spending in the Senate farm bill, which is estimated to cost over $100 billion annually, is going toward food stamps, representing a 100 percent increase since President Barack Obama took office, according to Alabama Republican Sen. Jeff Sessions.

[...]

“When the food stamp program was first expanded nationwide, about 1 in 50 Americans received food stamp benefits. Today, nearly one in 7 Americans are on food stamps,” Sessions said in a floor speech.

The full story is HERE.

I have no problem using food stamps as a TEMPORARY subsidy to help families while they get on their feet. When it becomes A WAY OF LIFE and/or is abused, that's where I draw the line. Food stamps should only be allowed for purchasing basics/staples for consumption.

It is the economy of course. As for who uses food stamps...all sorts of people can end up on this kind of aid. Young people who do not have a job or elderly people.

These numbers just underscore the fact that we have a larger group of chronically unemployed people with no resources.

Our 7-Eleven sells beer and cigarettes, however, they also sell bread, milk, cereal, produce and many other items that are healthy and edible. Your photo is misrepresenting convenience stores.

I thought that sign was for a 7-Eleven store too.

Just kidding ... lol.

It's obviously a liquor store.

The doubling of food stamp expenditures suggests that the number of Americans living in poverty has DOUBLED during the Obama presidency.

Not exactly a good talking point for his re-election campaign.

Come to think of it, that 'LIQUOR' sign is probably for a CVS store. I always go there for my booze.

Just kidding, again ... lol.
