Presidential?

Here is yet another testament to the lack of decorum and preparation of candidate Rick Santorum. He has come a long way in this campaign primarily because he is the last anti-Romney candidate to implode but he is indeed imploding and it's all on video to be relived over and over. Mr. Family Values cussing in front of his wide eyed daughter and intimidating the press is hardly a presidential thing to do. After all his time in public office Rick Santorum has never refined his image or learned to control his ghastly temper. He is often pouting or whining about something and with a false sense of righteous indignation he blathers ad nauseum about how unfair things are. It's as if he doesn't know how things work. Of course the media is biased but it is just as unfair or more towards Mitt Romney (2 Cadilacs and "I'm not worried about the poor"). One thing is painfully clear: Rick Santorum is the same cheap career politician Pennsylvania regretted electing. To add insult to injury Santorum actually did say the things that the reporter was asking him to clarify and instead of clarifying he lashed out like a rabid dog backed into a corner. It's time to put Santorum down for his own good and the good of the election. Rabid dogs make for poor candidates and worse presidents.

He's actually wild eyed in the video like he is rabid. Call the dog catchers or the men with the white jackets. He's gone nuts!

I feel for his daughter having to stand there and watch her father make a fool out of himself.

I heard that the NY Times reporter in question Jeff Zeleny (who is surely against ALL Republican candidates) later said he thought Santorum's outburst was calculated for its "anti-media" effect.

Having viewed the tape twice, I'm inclined to agree. After Santorum's initial reaction of anger and indignation at being asked a predictable question about his incendiary anti-Romney comment, Santorum kept drilling down. He charged the media with misreporting and twisting his words. The confrontation--largely generated by his own hostile demeanor and language--gave him a chance at a political two-fer. He kept repeating the same over-the-top charge against Romney, and he got to target the hated liberal media at the same time. (On this analysis, his coarse "bull***" was not a slip-up but was intentional.) He wouldn't let go. He kept returning to the encounter with Zeleny several times, reviving it, stoking the fire, long after it had logically come to an end.

Look at Santorum's daughter's face during his tirade. She's embarrassed and worried for him and by him. Increasingly, so is the Republican Party that he seeks to represent as its presidential standard bearer .
