Sheldon Adelson Is Closing The Spigot To Gingrich's SuperPac

This is bad news for Mitt Romney. Ironically, Gingrich remaining viable in the race would be the best gift the Romney campaign could receive.
...For now, the Adelsons don’t plan to deliver another big check to float Gingrich’s campaign, according to a person familiar with their deliberations. The family has donated a combined $11 million to Gingrich’s super-PAC in the past two months, according to interviews and Federal Election Commission records. An Adelson spokesman declined to comment....
Meanwhile, Rick Santorum has raised $2.3 million online since Tuesday night. In addition, Santorum's SuperPac is reporting some very substantial contributions.
....Foster Friess, a major donor to the Red, White and Blue Fund, a super-PAC backing Rick Santorum, said in a Bloomberg Television interview yesterday that money is “just absolutely rolling in” since the former Pennsylvania senator won three primary contests this week.

Friess said a single unidentified donor -- not him -- contributed $1 million to the fund....

Disagree with your conclusion. Good news for Romney, who will get Adelson's $$ backing. But GREAT news for America!

You made my RW, I am glad Mr. Gingrich is finally in political trouble.

Good news all around. While we can accept Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich was and is totally unacceptable. Good news for the country. If Santorum is the nominee and I doubt that will be the case we can support him. Good news! Thanks for the post.

Yeah I don't get phrasing the link as bad news for Romney, when the story says no such thing.

Stylistically the link should have some reference to the what you are linking to.

If you want to conclude this is bad news for Romney, you should do that somewhere else.

But I quibble.

"If you want to conclude this is bad news for Romney, you should do that somewhere else." Well, this might be good news for Mr. Romney and it could very well end up being bad news as well. In any event, why is RW not allowed to make an analysis either way?

Well, he couldn't use the SuperPAC money for his campaign, campaign travel anyway, it was probably going 90% to anti-Romney adds, so don't know if that really hurts Romney.

Doug, I'm sorry...I thought we were allowed to share our opinions on this site. Get up on the wrong side of the bed this morning?

I'm of the opinion that Gingrich has been delusional to think Santorum dropping out helps him and hurts Romney. Just the opposite actually. Likewise, Gingrich dropping out very well may hurt Romney and helps Santorum.

As I stated before. I'll vote against Obama if Angry Santorum is the nominee. I'll vote for Romney if he is the nominee.

Newt being toast is good all around. He's done enough damage, let's kick him to the curb already.

RW, this is bad news for you more than anyone else around here, because he's your guy. I thought you said yesterday that you couldn't vote for Santorum, and we all know what you think of Romney.

The guy you were supporting is now toast.

And BTW, both Adelson and Friess are former Romney backers, and friends. They will both be on board with Mitt sooner or later--probably sooner.

"I thought you said yesterday that you couldn't vote for Santorum," Martha, you have a bit of an imagination.

Martha,

Are you off your rocker? I've never supported Newt, and I voted for Santorum on Tuesday. That is who I'm supporting. Geez...

Ohio JOE said...

"Angry Santorum" Now that is the pot calling the kettle black.

Ohio JOE said...

"That is who I'm supporting. Geez..." Shhhhh, next you'll get labeled a troll.

I actually sent Rick some money the other day too.

Ohio JOE said...

You beat me RW, I have yet to send him money, (though I gave to his PAC.) I did give money to Mr. S. Walker. I wish more states were like Wisconsin and Ohio and had extreme Right Wing Governors.

Oh sorry, I am mixed up. I confused you with someone else. Apologies.

But you were Newt's cheerleader around here for quite a while.

Don't know how that double thing happened, but sorry for that too.

"Don't know how that double thing happened," Haha, you are lucky Pollman is not around here, he'd delete at least one of your double posts.

Martha, I've been very clear on this. I think Romney is worse than Newt, but that hardly qualifies as support. I was prepared to vote for whoever had the best chance of beating Romney in MN....even if it would have been Ron Paul. I'm glad Newt won South Carolina, or Mitt would already have this thing wrapped up. That gave Santorum another chance. I recall defending Palin for saying the same thing. She was right. I fully expect her to endorse Santorum
Between now and Super Tuesday.

Right Wingnut said...

By the way, imagine my relief when I saw the polling in MN. I was able to vote for someone without feeling the need for a shower afterwords.

Machtyn said...

Mitt worse than Newt? Actually, I do remember you saying that once before. Now that thought is not based in reality.

Oh sure, Mitt got MassCare going in a state that wanted to raise taxes to give "free" healthcare all around. But that was their right as a state. Newt actually endorsed federal mandates, and held on to that until about October this past year. Newt actually endorsed cap-n-trade. He actually increased government spending at the federal level (as did Santorum). There is NO WAY that Mitt is worse than Newt.

Also, I wouldn't count Gingrich for dead yet. Let's wait until Super Tuesday to see Newt go Newtclear.

Oh, I never said I wasn't angry. But Angry Santorum has been that ever since he didn't get enough airtime in Debate #2. He has been completely negative against his opponents the entire time and towards Romney since at least December. His CPAC speech today was at least 50% attack on Romney. Romney's speech was 60% attack on Obama, along with a definition of Conservatism and a defense from his attackers.

sad person who wants to get endorsed by Comrade Palinista, who calls GOP cannibals. Giuliani said her ideas about vulture capitalism are the dumbest and most ignorant about how our economy works and how jobs are created. Giuliani said her notions are the kind GOP should be fighting. She also amazingly called GOP Stalin-esque to point how that Newt was lying about Mrs. Reagan and about ever being friends with Reagan. Newt was extremely harsh and negative of Reagan during Reagan's presidency. Palin lies saying she didn't endorse Newt; she had her husband do it. No class. Palin was ringleader with Perry of democrat rich SC Tea Party who were marshaled to hijack the Republican Primary in SC. SC canceled their Democrat Primary in honor of the occasion. So Palin and Perry endorse your Sant? Ooooh wow Lucky you?
