Chalk Palin Up As Another Occupy Wall Street RINO

From CBS News:

Fox news analyst Sarah Palin said criticism of Mitt Romney's record as the head of Bain Capital by fellow Republicans is fair and the front-runner should provide proof to his clams that his tenure there helped created 100,000 jobs.

"Sometimes it gets rough and tumble as you try to hold these candidates accountable for what they are claiming," Palin said in an interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News Channel Wednesday.

Asked about attacks from Texas Gov. Rick Perry that Romney is a "vulture capitalist," the former Alaska governor said Perry is just holding his rival accountable.

"This isn't about a politician making huge profits in the private sector," Palin said, adding "I think what Governor Perry is getting at is that Governor Romney has claimed to have created 100,000 jobs at Bain and people are wanting to know is there proof of that claim?"

And in typical Romnot fashion Palin tells us that the OWS RINOs are really helping Romney by vetting him on this issue before Obama can.

Palin said it is better for the Republicans to press Romney on these matters now, since President Obama and his re-election team are sure to use these lines of attack against Romney if he becomes the Republican nominee for president.

How many times have we heard Right Wing Nut justify his attacks on Romney with this same specious argument? A page from the C4P playbook apparently.

Not really surprising, though, that Palin isn't a capitalist republican. She has a record as governor of Alaska of increasing taxes on the oil companies operating in Alaska.

In 2007, Palin put forth a plan called “Alaska’s Clear and Equitable Share” (sometimes called ACES) which imposed a progressive tax on oil profits. The tax, which was passed in a special legislative session, bumped the oil profits tax up to 25% on net profits with an increase for each dollar over a fixed cost (about $52 a barrel).

The tax has been compared to the federal windfall oil profits tax proposed by Democrats in 2008 and criticized by Palin’s running mate, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ). McCain’s economic team, however, has disagreed with the characterization.

Interestingly, Palin’s emails show that the push to get the plan passed was not easy. Republicans in the Last Frontier were opposed to a tax which they felt would discourage investment and Palin found it necessary to approach them individually in an effort to garner support. However, her technique was considered as very heavy-handed by many lawmakers who accused Palin, among other things, of threatening to withhold district funding in retaliation for not supporting the bill or to campaign against them if they did not cooperate.

Meanwhile, Rudy Giuliani blasted the OWS RINOs today on Fox and Friends.

Giuliani asked, “What the hell are you doing, Newt? I expect this from Saul Alinsky! This is what Saul Alinsky taught Barack Obama, and what you’re saying is part of the reason we’re in so much trouble right now.”

Giuliani broadened his criticism to include the attacks on Bain Capital launched by both Gingrich and Texas Governor Rick Perry, who he described as “a very close friend of mine.” “I’m shocked at what they’re doing,” said Giuliani. “It’s ignorant and dumb. It’s building something we should be fighting in America, ignorance of the economic system, playing on the dumbest, most ridiculous ideas about how you grow jobs.” He characterized the attacks on Romney’s private sector career as “unfair and bad for the Republican Party.”

Giuliani really dislikes Romney, so this is big news that he would get so hot about this issue that he would come to Romney's defense on this.

Dan, I'm glad you posted this. No one should be surprised Palin isn't sticking up for free market principles.

The ACES tax is considered the highest in the industry, and now 5 years later, Republicans in Alaska, (including Sarah's handpicked successor) are trying to get it repealed. They found out it's very bad for business.

I'm always glad to see Palin reveal her true colors, and they are not true-blue conservative.

The way she's going after Romney is telling.

I liked Palin in '08. Now I'm glad to have her revealing her self-serving interests on Foxnews the last few years.

Last week she was perpetuating the Dems' newly deceptive line that they really WANT to go up against Romney. Today she is perpetuating the grotesque attacks on the free-market.

Sad to see so many people being dishonest with their own core values and being blatantly dishonest to their "followers."

I might add that these are the same people who claim Romney has no core. While at the same time they kneel at the alter of Reagan and forgive him his very liberal past.

Sarah continues to be the biggest con artist liar in America. She will say or do anything if the price is right. She will spew her hate and ignorance every chance she get, just to keep her mug in the news.

And exactly how did Sarah Palin make all of her money? Are we allowed to ask that? She is just trying to stay relevant..and failing.

BTW, the hat looks stupid.

I felt super betrayed by Sarah last night and even called her "dead to me"...I re-watched the interview and I dialed back that critique. Everyone knows that I like Palin a lot and I don't hold her lack of support for Romney against her. I felt like she stepped over the line last night, BUT, she might end up helping Romney down the road with this stuff if she does in fact get behind him if he's the nominee. She can put forth the view that she was skeptical of Romney, but he has convinced her about his skeletons and now it's time for her and the tea party to unite to defeat Obama.

I hope this is Palin's long term MO...if her intention is to purely derail Romney over Bain, than my initial reaction last night will become concrete...we shall see.

You know that Sarah Palin who loves "free" money. Who commands that her supporters donate to her Sarahpac so that she may give them a tingle up their legs and all indication that she may run for president only to say well aww shucks, that fire in the belly wasnt there....but wait there is still time for someone to jump in the race, maybe I'll think about it but only if you donate money to me..keep it coming!!!!

"No one should be surprised Palin isn't sticking up for free market principles." That is rich coming from a camp that supports Socialism in Health Care, Retirement funding and the banking industry. It is rather interesting the the Romney camp is supporting capitalism all of a sudden. Welcome to the party. Hope you guys stay a while.

OJ, Well, your right, I don't want Republicans to gut SS right now--it's not too smart politically, and it's not right morally. However, we do need to fix it.

I'm also not one of those wanted a complete meltdown of the financial system back in 2008.

And, of course, Romney supporters don't want socialized medicine--that's one of the reasons we want Romney.

But I do support Capitalism, always have. That why I support Mitt. He's one of the top five candidates who are all for fixing the economy through the power of the free market.

There are two who don't, Newt and Perry. And these are the clowns Palin chooses to defend. Unflippinbelievable.

OJ, you've been on your high horse for 3 years now about party purity, true conservatism, etc.

Now would be a good time for you to actually come out and be honest about what Newt, Perry and Palin are doing to capitalism and the free market.

Do you not see how they are playing for the other team?

-Martha

Thanks Martha and everyone else too.

OJ, Palin supported TARP as well. Sorry I forgot to include that in my post. And she liked to travel to Canada to take advantage of their socialized medicine.

OJ,

I know that this escapes you, becuase we've all been over this like 20 million times in the last five years, but Masscare was a FREE MARKET SOLUTION. Romney didn't force people to sign up for a single payer, goernment only medical plan. He forced people to enter the free market and purchase insurance of their choice.

Ohio Joe, I don't support socialism in health care and neither does Romney...however, it was Palin who used demagoguery in regards to medicare without even bothering to come up with any kind of meaningful entitlement reform.

And btw, the fact that Alaskans get a check in the mail from the state probably makes them one of the more socialist states in the country.

What a dumbass. Why does anyone listen to her?

Dan, so many times, I saw Huck supporters say they were more socially conservative than fiscally. Granny T is one, but I saw many others. It almost seemed like the fiscal side didn't matter so much to them.

So maybe this is bringing them out of the woodwork--people like Palin. Maybe there's more people in the Evangelical wing who really are more big gov/populist than we realized.

Martha

I have had the same observation as you regarding social conservatives in the GOP....there are many that would fit the description of a blue dog Democrat verses a fiscally conservative Republican. This is very confusing.

Anonymous said...

leighrow, I agree, it is very confusing. But it does explain why a lot of these folks don't care for Romney much. He's not a populist, and he is a fiscal conservative.

Since I wrote that, I've been reading some other comments here and there saying essentially the same thing.

"Ohio Joe, I don't support socialism in health care and neither does Romney.." Oh please talk about high horses.

"Now would be a good time for you to actually come out and be honest about what Newt, Perry and Palin are doing to capitalism and the free market."

No, Martha, I am not going to bail you out of the mess you have created for yourself. Why should I call out people who are dishonest about Mr. Romney when you have been dishonest about Mrs. Palin, Mr. Huckabee, Mr. Perry, Mr. Cain, Mr. Santorum, Mr. Pawlenty and who not all. What comes about goes around, you defend capitalism for a change, we are tired of defending capitalism because every time we do, you just call us extremists. Now shoe is now on the other foot. Now let us see what you are made of.

Ohio JOE said...

"He's not a populist, and he is a fiscal conservative." He is neither a populist nor a fiscal Conservative. He and Mr. Gingrich make a good pair. They are both dishonest and full of trouble.

The most strident SoCons ARE also the most highly Populist - which is basically a Liberal Democrat.
They are the Pro-Life wing of the Socialist Movement, who want all the safety nets, government hand outs, programs, spewing the "help the little guy, I want to have a beer with that guy" voter.

The only reason they are in the GOP is because of the Life Issue, otherwise they are as RED as Daily KOS and just as sore.

on the bright side I hope she means that this is an opportunity that Romney has to #1 defend Capitalism and #2 Prove that he did his best to be honest to the American People....although I do feel its pathetic that it was brought up by repbulicans....if romney becomes nominee and obama tries to use it again...the american people would already know enough to know that romney was a decent guy and that he'll help america....

@Ohio Joe - you say, "Now let us see what you are made of."

So you're going to tow the party line of the liberal left, the OWS crowd, Jeremiah Wright, Saul Alinski, and Marx all because you felt maligned by the supporters of a candidate you don't agree with? That's a bright idea.

Someone once said you don't justify bad behavior by pointing to worse behavior. And this is exactly what you're doing. No, it's worse. You're selling out American Values over an election. I thought elections were about standing on your moral convictions no matter what.

This whole attack on the free market is really churning my stomach. Three weeks ago I truly thought I could support any one of the candidates up on the stage - and now I see three of them so bitter with envy that they're willing to betray their American values. Absolutely disgusting.

This is the SAME Sarah Palin who hurried her (campaign? vacation?) bus to a barbecue in New Hampshire last May—on the very evening that Mitt Romney announced for president. What a scheduling coincidence!

Headline-stealing is Sarah’s specialty, and, thanks to the MSM, she’s been very good at it till recently. Now she seems stale, a card-carrying member of the Limbaugh/Levin echo chamber, with a paid platform on Fox News till her contract runs out.

I thought of her during the final debate in New Hampshire when Rick Santorum (absurdly) accused Mitt of being a “quitter” for not running for a SECOND term as governor of Massachusetts. Mon dieu! Only ONE 4-year term as a governor (which is 4 more years of executive political experience than Rick himself has)? I can only imagine what nasty things Rick would say about Sarah’s cutting short her governorship of Alaska even before her first term was completed.

Sarah can’t stand Mitt for a host of reasons. That’s been obvious for a long time. Furthermore, their personalities are polar opposites. One way or another, she’ll keep digging at him all the way to the White House—and beyond. But, really, she’s the least of his worries, whether as a candidate, the nominee, or the president. In the big picture, she’s just not important anymore.

Phil - Well said. Ohio Joe is showing that he loves the bitterness he feels in his soul more than the principles that made him a conservative. Too bad.

Ohio JOE said...

"They are the Pro-Life wing of the Socialist Movement" not a bad description of Mr. Romney, quasi-Pro-Life and quasi-Socialist.

"This whole attack on the free market is really churning my stomach." If you are intellectually honest, than you'd call out Mr. Romney as well as Mr. Gingrich.

Anonymous said...

OJ. when it comes to Romney, you really just create the reality you want out of whole cloth. Romney is rock solid on capitalism, he's nowhere near being a socialist. I'm sorry, but you can't make up your own facts.

At the 5:25 mark of the the above Palin interview by Cavuto, Palin carefully discussed McCain disrespect for attacking fellow Republicans based on anonymous sources. Hilarious.

Palin took anonymous Harry Reid source and RAN with it to attack Romney on possible, "potential" tax return issue. She's a fraud.
