DeMint advisers to endorse Romney

A group of loyalists to South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint - including a top fundraiser for Rick Perry - will publicly endorse Mitt Romney's presidential bid on Thursday, a source confirmed to CNN.

Former South Carolina GOP Chairman Barry Wynn, Columbia businessman and fundraiser Peter Brown, and Columbia attorney Kevin Hall will announce their support for Romney Thursday.

Yeah, they do Bos. I've come to a conclusion though. DeMint won't be endorsing anyone for a while until it's safe to do so for the following reason. He's trying to promote and sell his book. If he endorses someone now, he risks alienating potential book buyers/readers. So, while it was great hearing him speak positively of Romney on Levin's show today, he was careful to not say too much. If there was no book, he would have already endorsed Mitt. But, I still think he will....just give him time. IMHO

Well, he has a few more days for max impact, so he'd better be getting on with it! The 17th or 18th is the deadline.

If he doesn't, I will have lost all respect for him. ESPECIALLY in light of the outright assault Newt and Perry are waging on free enterprise this very week. It's not enough to say tone it down. Blah!

There is NO EXCUSE for him not to endorse Mitt right now. To hell with his silly book. Come on.

That's a cynical way to look at it. In my opinion, he is being smart. We Romney supporters blame the TEA Party for not using their brains to support Romney. According to them, they have a spine and are standing on principals (as misguided as they are... they haven't really looked at Romney to see that their principles align.)

In any case, DeMint is trying to get Senators elected. There is no reason for him to go alienating a faction of misguided supporters because they don't like Romney. It would be nice if we can have the House, the Senate, and the White House to get positive change happening.

Machtyn, he needs to be a leader, and appeal to their more rational sides. He is exactly the one who can influence these people who are willfully blind on Romney.

If he truly wants to help get the WH, the Senate, etc., endorsing Romney is the best way to do it. But, I'm not so sure he wants that at all. He is the one famous for saying he'd rather have 30 purists, than actual control.

"ESPECIALLY in light of the outright assault Newt and Perry are waging on free enterprise this very week." Selective outrage. It is not OK for Mr. Gingrich and Mr. Perry to attack capitalism, but it is OK for Mr. Romney to do so. Niiiiice.

OJ, when did Mr. Romney attack capitalism?

Demint wont endorse as long as Romney is leading but he sends his advisers to endorse. If polls shift and Newt or someone else leads, Demint will jump in to endorse Mitt.
