Giuliani: Mitt is a world class flip flopper

“I’ve never seen a guy change his position so many times, so fast, on a dime,” Giuliani said on MSNBC’s Morning Joe.

In an extended rant against Romney, Giuliani said the Republican hopeful switched from pro-choice to pro-life; pro-gun control to becoming an NRA supporter; pro-cap and trade to being against cap and trade, among other shifts.

“He figures out there are embryos and changes” his mind on abortion, Giuliani said. “He was pro-mandate [for health care] for the whole country, then he becomes anti-mandate and takes that page out of his book, and republishes the book.” ...

By contrast, Giuliani glowingly compared former Republican speaker Newt Gingrich to Ronald Reagan.

“I think Newt has his set of vulnerabilities, but a more consistent position with real ideas like Ronald Reagan had,” he said. “I remember the Carter White House just dying for Ronald Reagan. Ronald Reagan was the dumb actor, said incendiary things.”

Rudy was just on Brian Kilmeade's radio show talking about Mitt's hypocritical, distortions that he ran in 2007/2008.

Rudy said he was impressed with Mitt's 2012 campaign up until now. Said that Romney was in panic mode and doing what he did last time.

Well, it's a free country. He IS entitled to his opinion, is he not?

I see Rudy is doubling down on Perry's lie about Romney's book. Don't take it so personally, Rudy. Just because you and Newt share similar standards of personal behavior doesn't mean you are one and the same.

Mitt is haunted by the spirit of his Father & his gaff that sunk his quest. Now he attracts dabblers in the black arts. Religious people see mixed messages on this man & his beliefs in a non-mainstream faith.

His words come back to haunt him at every turn. He has murdered the truth to spin & weave deceit. An American Tragic - Comedy.

"Confusion now hath made his masterpiece!
Most sacrilegious murder hath broke open
The Lord's anointed temple, and stole thence
The life o' the building!"

Rudy who?

@ Nancy, Since you're LDS, can you help me understand the name "Mittens." Is this a name for some church prophet, saint, or angel?

My research into its derivation comes from Middle English 'mitain,' from Anglo-French, probably from Old French 'mite,' a name for a cat that was used around the 14th century.

Alternatively, we have another definition for 'mittimus,' from Latin; we send, from 'mittere' to send.

Finally, from the writings by George Fox (1624-1691). He used this word to describe his being taken to the magistrate for probable incarceration for preaching the gospel of Christ.

When parents name a child with such an unusual name, or second name, there usually is a reason for such a choice. This name is no passing fancy or fad of the era.

Of course, the same applies to Newt. Why would a parent name their child Newton? Very strange, yet totally overlooked.

Everytime I see Rudy now, I think of the picture of him as a drag queen that NYC GOP Doug posted a little while back.

Ha ha ha........talk about drama queen. Romney may have flipped a few times but Gingrich is the one who has flipped and flopped numerous times from his past positions and even throughout his current campaign.

The Romney accusations of being a serial flip flopper have been proven inaccurate by major news sources-check the daily candidate web site. He has flipped on positions through the years like all politicians. I actually can't recall a position where he flipped and flopped back to his initial position.

Guilliani just lost much street cred with me.

Giuliani friends with Newt much?

Once more, it's "flip-flopping" when you go from one position to its opposite, then back to the original position. Mitt has become more conservative over the years, and has stayed that way.

I THOUGHT THAT'S WHAT WE WANTED FROM PEOPLE.

I think they named him Newton to forewarn him about his upcoming poll numbers. "What goes up, must come down."

The flip-floppers of marriage: Newt and Rudy. It's no wonder Rudy's sticking with Newt, a fellow wife cheater in public office.

Lionhead, from wikipedia:
"Romney was named after hotel magnate J. Willard Marriott, his father's best friend, and his father's cousin Milton "Mitt" Romney, 1925–1929 quarterback for the Chicago Bears."

I am so grateful that Giuliani only won one delegate last time and will never be in the WH. Hopefully he will never hold any position in any administration either.

I am not surprised at all by the recent endorsement of Newt by Rudy Guiliani. I have never been on the Rudy bandwagon because I just didn't trust his political instincts. I give the guy tremendous credit for the way he handled 9/11. In a time of crisis, he stepped up to the plate in a big way, and I thank him for that. But that being said, Rudy is a moderate politician at best, with terrible political instincts. His ridiculous Florida bunker strategy in 2008 was a lazy man's strategy from a guy that didn't really want to work and campaign to become president. Between Guiliani and Fred Thompson, I think it was a tie as to which was the lazier candidate. Newt can have the Guiliani endorsement as far as I'm concerned.

Oh and I want to point out once more, birds of a feather...Newt and Rudy. They should do a commercial together with pole dancers in the back ground.

Hi again Martha, I leave you with these thoughts:

"The truth has a unique sting, and an equally unique ability to heal the destruction wrought by dishonesty, fraud and lies. The truth hurts, because the daylight of truth demands changes that the self-serving and those in denial desperately wish to avoid.

But there can be no healing or reconciliation without the truth, baldly stated and plainly spoken without artifice or spin."

Rudy was my second choice in 2008, but I'm afraid that I've lost almost all the respect I've had for him -- and it has little to do with this year's race.

What killed it for me is what he did in 2009-2010. The NY GOP was looking for a candidate for Governor and the two US Senators. We had a good chance to win at least one of those seats, maybe even two. Rudy made noises about maybe running for one of the seats. This froze the GOP in place.

For months and months and months, Rudy played hard to get. He wouldn't make up his mind if he was running or not. Finally, after freezing the field during all that precious time, he stated, "Nah, I'm not really all that interested."

When he pulled that stunt, I lost almost all my respect for the man.

The NY GOP then had to scramble to try to find somebody credible to run for those three seats. The upshot is we lost all three races.

Do I blame Giuliani for the loses? No. But he has to share a major part of the blame. His cynical coyness helped deny us at least one very winnable seat out of those three in NY.

Rudy has turned into a publicity hound similar to Newt Gingrich. He uses his political clout to sell books, collect speaking fees, and charge for lobbying. The more notoriety he has, the more money he makes.

There is also the dynamic that Mitt has been steadily moving right all these years. He is less moderate than he used to be. Rudy has not. Therefore Rudy the Moderate feels betrayed in a way that he doesn't with Newt.

I've gotta say, I'm glad his parents went with Willard Mitt rather than Willard Milton. Talk about old-fashioned names!

Well gosh, I hate to see this because I've always really liked Rudy. I don't get it. I guess he had more animosity for Mitt than I realized.

I don't mind people criticizing Romney, but I can't respect anyone who keeps repeating the lies about him. It's a shame they don't have more integrity.

About the Willard name thing...I'm thinking now it's kind of a lucky name.

Besides Mitt, there is Willard Christopher Smith, aka, Will Smith of Men in Black fame and J Willard Marriot, the founder of the Marriot Hotel chain.

Rudy's former NYC police chief Bernard Keric is currently residing in a prison cell - and has been for several years - for crimes he committed during Rudy's mayorship. Hey Rudy, here's a tip: people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones - capiche?

Noelle said...

I didn't realize Will Smith is actually Willard Smith. I always assumed he was William Smith. Just goes to show you should not assume.

I have always liked Will Smith.

Rudy is the man who has flipped on his vows and beliefs. He is for gay marriage and Pro Choice. He cheated on his wife. He has shown bad morals and character which is far more troubling and a reversal than anything Romney has ever revised his way of thinking on. Romney had Heritage Foundation, Rush and Newt singing the praises of what they did as a state with voter and bipartisan approval. It was innovative. Reagan actually passed abortion law, Amnesty and was for JFK. Was he conservative? Mitt has stood up for Pro Life and traditional values...repeatedly. Romney ruined Rudy's campaign concession speech because he was afraid Rudy was going to endorse McCain. I lost a lot of respect for Romney when he did that. He also did it to McCain when McCain conceded Michigan.

It is instances like those that make me question the man's integrity. Those same instances make it very difficult for me to pull the lever for him.
