Flashback From 2008: Newt Blasts Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac - Did Not Support Bailout

This is a very powerful video of Newt Gingrich, in September 2008, demanding that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac not be bailed out, and recommending they be broken up. This collaborates what he's been saying in the debates about the matter. Hopefully, we can now move on to important matters, like the fallout over Romney's $10,000 bet. Ha Ha...

By the way....look who was standing next to him.

What a lying flip flopping sob he is..

Oh yeah..that 10,000 bet that no one but a lot of idiot reporters even care about.

How about the fraud he perpetrated by pretending it was an aid who made those comments to the Union Leader and not him? Typical Gingrich. sneaky and deceitful...

This is just evidence for Newt's flip flopping. He blasts Fannie and Freddie, and then turns around and takes a cool $1.2 million from them to serve as what? - a historian? Yes. Let's move on from a petty little $1.2 million to important matters like $10,000.

Before the meltdown the Bush administration tried to reign in Freddi Mac and Fannie Mae..but they were rebuffed by Congress..and John McCain actually tried to create legislation to deal with these agencies, but could not get enough support in Congress...and when this was going on what was Newt doing? Taking money from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and talking up their business model with lawmakers...if anything he made it more difficult to deal with them...after the fact he makes this kind of speech.

Sheesh.

This video is proof that Mitt is the most consistent of the candidates. Newt and Michelle are the real flip-flopping and career politicians.

RW

Newt had already collected the 1.8 million by this time,I believe his last receipt was for the year 2007.

So he was no longer on Freddie's payroll so of course he is going to flip back to the position that makes him look good in public.

You are really intent on seeing 4 more years of Obama. Is Obama going to appoint you as an ambassador to Wing Nut Land?.....ha ha ha-Joke.

One is not a lobbyist when you get paid less than $1.8M from Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. One is not a lobbyist when you get paid less than $37M from health care industry. To conclude, Newt was a lobbyist.

Hah. This proves what a slime bag Gingrich was, his last payment was from September 2008.

Federal takeover of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac happened on September 7, just few days after this speech. It was obvious for everybody weeks before that that they were in trouble. Gingrich just like a rat left the ship, but this doesn't mean that he exposed Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac, he just joined the choir.

NOTICE TO ROMBOTS: CEASE AND DESIST ALL REFERENCES TO ANY CANDIDATE BEING A FLIP-FLOPPER - IT MAKES YOU LOOK LIKE HYPOCRITES

JR - I think they do it so much out of vindictiveness over the many people so claimed they didn't support Romney because he's a "flip-flopper" but have little qualm about supporting Gingrich, who flip-flops quite a bit.

It would be like the people claiming Governor Palin didn't have enough executive experience jumping on the Bachmann bandwagon.

You make a good point GetReal, but by the same token, it is funny for Romneyites to go on and on and on about the fact that Mr. Gingrich used to be an adulterer, but Mr. Romney's conversion is sencere. Perhaps Mr. Romney had a true change of heart and Mr. Gingrich did not, but who can say this with certainty.

Good point GetReal, I'm just really starting to dislike all supporters of any candidate.

That's understandable, JR. Even I get tired of all the back and forth jabbing, especially from my own side. That's not saying I'm not ever guilty of it myself - I did get a kick out of calling Gingrich "Speaker Moonbeam" but it was petty of me.

Also, OJ, you are correct that we can't see into the heart of either man. I don't personally hold Newt's former marital misadventures against him so much as worry that its handing a big weapon over to Obama. I really can't afford four more years of President Obama in the White House.

Romney has only flipped on ONE position which is abortion, the rest are well edited videos you idiots have all seemed to fall for.

It's more than one position.

Bush tried 13 times to warn of an impending disaster in the Fannie and Freddie mess. It is clear that Newt was against bailing them out. I think you all should look at the hearings held where Barney Frank was in it up to his neck and was the one who said "there were no problems" with Fanny and Freddie". Oh, I forgot, Democrats only remember what they want and then try to cover up the mess by blaming someone else or try to use the race card.

I for one am sick of the progressive, liberal, socialist, communist, democrat or whatever name being they use these days to describe the movement to turn this country into a welfare state. What is being perpetrated on this country and the working men and women who pay their taxes is criminal. Those in Congress and the Obama Administration who line their pockets using insider trading and crony money laundering should be the first to be removed and punished severely, and I do not mean just a slap on the back of the hands (Lots of jail time and loss of all benefits).

You who wish a free ride, free lunch, or whatever…..go somewhere else.

God Bless America.
