Michael Reagan: My Dad Would Have Supported Newt On Immigration

I'm starting to think this is a strategic play by Newt, designed to flush out the positions of his opponents. Eventually, they'll need to broaden their answers beyond, "no amnesty." It's better to have this conversation now, as opposed to mid-late December. Look for Newt to press his opponents hard for solutions in the upcoming debates.

I wasn't able to locate anything on Mitt's website relating to immigration policy....

Ed Meese says that Reagan would have supported Mitt's stand. But sense the man is dead and is not here to speak for himself, it is kind of academic.

The thing that amazes me is the hypocricy of the Newt apologists. If Romney had said this their eyeballs would have popped out of their heads and they would have started twitching and shrieking Rino at the top of their lungs.

Terrye,

In the debate, he wouldn't say he would deport "Grandpa Pablo" after 25 years, calling it an "extreme example." He will be pressed on this further in the coming weeks.

Reagan's amnesty made Obama possible. All the hispanics I know, brought in by Reagan's amnesty, vote Democrat.

Reagan's amnesty also encourged mass illegal immigration in the
90's.

Reagan made a huge mistake for the growth and survival of conservatism.

It seems centrism, RINOism, Moderation, are off-limits when it comes to Mitt Romney. Anybody But Romney candidates are okay to be RINO as long as you're not Romney. There goes the hypocrisies of so called "Conservatives" again. Pitiful. Pathetic.

"Reagan made a huge mistake for the growth and survival of conservatism." Not necessarily. This whole pissing contest between Mr. Romney and Mr. Gingrich on immigration is getting old fast.

Terrye,

Do you have a link to that Meese comment? Thanks.

Right Wing..I saw the quote in a comment thread at Hot Air. Go knock yourself out and find it for yourself.

Just to clarify once again....I am NOT a Gingrich supporter. I'm arguing his position on some things to give this site a much needed opposing view to the Romney worship that takes place here on a daily basis.

Terrye said...

yeah, you are not a Gingrich supporter, you are just a Romney hater. You know what? Every day I hear people like you make cracks about Romney and most of the time it is nonsense.

I don't worship Romney, I just don't go out of my way to make up dumb ass lies about him.

Terrye,

Hate is a strong word. I don't hate Romney...

There are very few people in this world that I truly hate...people like Sandusky...or terrorists that seek to kill Americans and destroy our way of life.

The onus is on Gingrich. We're the conservatives that he says he wants to fight over the illegal immigrants who've been here for 25+ years with families and go to Church. He needs to expound on it and show us what his policy will look like. If he can't then he should shut up about it.

You know RW and OJ you can still support Newt and not agree with him on every issue. Just because he's your fling for the month doesn't mean you need to be apologists for him.

Newt is wrong on this issue, Reagan was wrong on this issue.

Its ok to agree with the Romney voters every now and then, it's called being objective.

"You know RW and OJ you can still support Newt and not agree with him on every issue." That is true. I can only speak for myself, but I do not recall either of us declaring our support. I suppose stranger things have happened and I might one day be an honorary member have the Gingrich camp, but anybody who thinks I am a Gingrichite at this moment in time is not paying attention.

"Its ok to agree with the Romney voters every now and then," I do agree with many Romney voter now and then. Some Romney voters I actually agree with most of the time and Romney voters I agree with hardly ever; the Romney camp is somewhat diverse.
