Making Lemonade

In a classic case of turning a lemon into lemonade, I read today that Rick Perry is making his enormous gaffe last night into a fundraising e-mail:

Friend & Supporter,
We’ve all had human moments. President Obama is still trying to find all 57 states. Ronald Reagan got lost somewhere on the Pacific Highway in an answer to a debate question. Gerald Ford ate a tamale without removing the husk. And tonight Rick Perry forgot the third agency he wants to eliminate. Just goes to show there are too damn many federal agencies.
I've got to hand it it him, that's a pretty good way to spin his incompetence. So while I think he handled it well, he is still completely unprepared to be president.

As you know I am not a Perry supporter as I wanted KBH to be governor of Texas.

But your comment at the end that Perry is "still completely unprepared to be president" is a far stretch from the truth.

Being governor of a state for 10 years gives you the best experience for managing a microcosm of the federal government. That is why we like to nominate governors over senators/congresspersons.

Now you can state that he is horrible at debates and that his performances so far show us that he would do equally as bad up against Obama. You could even state how Reagan in his debate against Carter showed that he was the better leader and Perry's poor debate performance could give us a record landslide against the Republicans in 2012.

But again, to say that he is completely unprepared to be president is just wrong.

Let me rephrase it. Perry is completely unprepared to run for president.

Despite the claim of unpreparedness being over the top, this was a great article. Haha, maybe we will have 57 states before the day I die.

Chief Commander has to remember, in any case and in any situation, I am sorry for Rick, but we can walk along the risk that he forgot which one is our friend, which one is our enemy.

I almost felt sorry for Perry last night. That was just excruciating..I think anyone can understand how he had to feel. Poor guy.

I also felt sorry for Perry and his terrible gaffe. On the other hand, it does make you wonder if he's ready for the 3:00 a.m. phone call on the red phone.... If I remember correctly, Obama's 57 states gaffe was not in a debate, and it was not reported widely as it would have been had he had an R by his name in the election.

Still, it was a funny way to spin things, and I hope he doesn't get any more money. Period.
