No Mitt?

RW, I'm so glad Romney is not going to be there. He doesn't need to hang out with people who trash his faith.

Martha, Frank Luntz is the moderator. When has he trashed his Mitt's faith?

Huntsman and Romney both sat it out. I read some where that Mitt and the organizer of the event Vander-something have some issues...I would bet that it has something to do with the organized Evangelical movement that is opposed to a Mormon president so Romney probably felt like this event is a lost cause.

I also heard that Romney will be attending another Family Forum in Iowa in December that is sponsored by Mike Huckebee. As far as I am concerned the way Romney has lived his life and the way in which Romney has raised his family speaks volumes about his family values unlike the Gingrich Pig.

RW, The Family Leader is funded by the AFA. Need I say more.

That was me, sorry.

Huntsman didn't meet the polling requirements to be invited.

Mitt Romney missed out on an opportunity for voters to get to know him. He needs to close the sale. In missing this forum, he continues to keep the sale open to others.

This isn't just about Iowa.

Texas, I don't see any reason why Romney should reward bigoted people by attending their event.

TexasConservative,

The organizers, and potentially the crowd, are pretty much in the anyone-but-Mitt category. Mitt reached out to them in 2008 and we all saw the result. These are people who are predisposed with a bias against Romney. They have already decided they will not vote for him under any circumstance. You might be in the same category, although I hope you are not.

This time Mitt is reaching out to voters who are open-minded enough to actually consider voting for him, along with his actual supporters from last time. That is a better use of time and resources.

Additionally, no need riling up the Evangelical shock troops. Avoiding events such as this achieves that objective.

Hamaca, you are so right. Bob Vander Platts said Romney 'stiffed us. He has bad judgment".

No Bob. Romney made the right call. Romney doesn't need to grovel at the feet of bigots.

Texas,

Does it bother you that these people are bigoted against Romney's faith? Is there any bigotry you would condemn? I personally believe all the candidates should have stayed home.

We DO NOT need bigots having any influence in our elections. At least that's what Reagan would say.

Newt and Santorum were both very impressive. There was a very awkward moment prior to the start of the debate. Bachmann was pouring everyone a glass of water. If you haven't watched, fastforward to 37 minute in the following video link and watch Bachmann.

Family Leader Forum: post-game comments from Bob Vander Plaats

Thanks for pointing that out RWN.

Yes, that was very awkward.

Why did she do that? Looked subservient.

Right Wingnut said...

TC,

That's what I thought. The men were all sitting down ready to go, and the only woman on the stage spent a minute pouring everyone water. Optics are important. It would have looked just as bad if Cain had done that.

hamaca said...

RWN--I had a look, and yes, it was kind of funny and a bit awkward, mostly for Luntz.

mitt doesnt need vandersqatt or his wolves in sheeps clothing. Mitt will attend the mike huckabee forum, my guess is huck will endorse mitt before the iowa caucus, you heard it here first! Huck has no choice and his endorsement will only matter in iowa, nowhere else. He wont endorse a couple of guys with past women problems and he wont endorse anyone else with no chance. He will endorse a winner and thats romney.

Anonymous said...

Imagine if romney had not been a mormon, but a strong christian with the strong values and standards like he has now but without the mormon title. I think his poll numbers would be much higher than they are now. i know mormons, you say your christians and i believe that but why cant he just say it without the mormon word in there?

Newt has gotten a lot of applause for his comments in the forum.

Right Wingnut said...

TC, Yep. newt was clearly heads and shoulders above the rest today. I threw Santorum in as well so that I wouldn't be accused of shilling for Newt.

My ranking of debate performances:

1. Gingrich
2. Santorum
3. Tie - Bachmann, Perry, Cain
6. Paul

Anonymous said...

Texas, well I guess you answered my question. Bigotry does not matter to you.

-Martha

Anonymous said...

I didn't see any of it, but I don't think there's anything weird about Bachmann pouring water for the guys. That's just a little too much analyzing, guys.

I believe Santorum is a much better fit for Iowa, and that he'll be the next ABR. I don't care how impressed anyone is Newt tonight, he will not sustain his lead. He has too many dealbreakers.

-Martha

Anonymous said...

It's actually very funny to see people running to Newt, of all people. What a joke.

-Martha

Right Wingnut said...

Martha, you need to watch the Bachmann clip to understand. It's not a huge deal...just bad optics. If she watches it later, she'll regret doing it.

TexasConservative said...

Sorry Martha I am not going to engage with you on the "bigot" comment.

RWN, I thought Santorum's demeanor was similiar to the other debates where he talks about himself-he has a tendency to come off as not likeable. I don't like how he says I am the only one on this stage who has... Thereby implying that the others have done nothing on the issue. When in fact, others have done something in the capacity that they could.

TexasConservative said...

Just to answer a question that is probably being thought, No I have not yet decided on a candidate.

Seems like I do not have anyone to vote FOR but several that I have settled on. I vacillate between three of them. Not sure yet which one I will finally settle for.

Ohio JOE said...

"I believe Santorum is a much better fit for Iowa," So he is a bigot now too?

Anonymous said...

bachmann thing was kinda weird, and yes bad optics, kinda like her corndog picture bad optics

Right Wingnut said...

TC, Which 3 have you narrowed it down to?

Anonymous said...

OJ, no I don't think Santorum is a bigot. The AFA is not Iowa.

Texas, what is so hard about saying you don't agree with the way the AFA treats and lies about Mormons? Your non-answer leads me to believe you have no problem with it. The trouble with standing by and doing nothing, while fellow conservatives have their faith trashed and lied about, is that next someone will come after your faith. Someday, you may want Mormons standing with you on the issues (prop 8), and defending your faith when necessary.

The other problems with giving the bigots free rein, is that it makes our party look bad, and it gives them power they do not deserve.
