“Relative to foreign policy, I don’t need to know the details of every one of the issues we face.Doesn't that sentiment make you feel all warm and fuzzy when thinking about issues that could arise concerning the likes of Iran, China, and Putin in charge of Russia?
"We’ve got plenty of experts who can fill in the details,” Cain said at dinner held by the Nueces County Republican Women.
His attitude is so ridiculous that it lead to an inside joke between Afghan President Hamid Karzai and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton:
According to the Associated Press, the two leaders began their meeting in the Afghanistan capital with a discussion about how the GOP presidential candidate recently responded to how he would handle “gotcha questions” from the media on foreign policy. This isn't a trait I want in our next President. I'm tired of on the job training in the White House. Cain is to laid back and aloof for my taste. I want a serious President for serious times.
“When they ask me who’s the president of Ubeki-beki-beki-beki-stan-stan, I’m gonna say, ‘You know, I don’t know, do you know?’” Cain responded, raising eyebrows about his lack of foreign policy credentials.
Karzai told Clinton that Cain was talking about “all the ‘stans,” to which Clinton laughed and waved her hands, saying, “All the ‘stans places,” the wire said.
“That wasn’t right, but anyway, that’s how politics are,” Karzai responded.

Amen!
The Democrats have Joe Biden and Republicans have Herman Cain.
This is disturbing. The first time he said it, I respected it. For all I knew he was spending 3-5 hours daily to get up to speed. Repeating it makes him increasingly incompetent. And that's being generous.
This isn't going to fly. Cain is toast in a matter of weeks. I mean, this is what people were worried about with Palin, and for all her faults, she obviously knows more than Cain on every issue. Republicans overwhelmingly said she was not ready. So why would they think Cain is? I guess they just don't care--he's a likable guy. It's getting old. We're talking about the most important job in the world. A world that is about to go under. Sheesh.

Martha that Thought would make a GREAT POST.
I think you should go for it. With your comment above, it's half written already.
At first I thought Herman Cain was just not up to speed, after all how many people really think about foreign affairs that much? But as time goes on he continues to be incurious..that is not good.
A remark like that is just plain disrespectful of our country and the problems we face.
Not only is it embarrassing (yes, like Biden) it is "frightening" that "conservatives" are lapping this guy up. Seriously, when our country NEEDS SERIOUS solutions?!

I agree with Bob.
the idea of running Cain as the nominee seems almost as crazy as Democrats running Biden as their nominee.
They're both accidents waiting to happen
I was willing to overlook Cain's inexperience in foreign policy early on in his campaign, but we are far enough along that he should have more understanding of the issues by now. Business cred is good. I like it, but it is 1 dimensional. He needs more.
In these dangerous times, Cain's attitude towards foreign policy is scarier than Ron Paul's position....and that is pretty scary.
