What a nerve. Catholic symbols at a Catholic University

You know, when you think you've read just about everything, something more ridiculous comes along that proves you wrong:
The Washington, D.C. Office of Human Rights confirmed that it is investigating allegations that Catholic University violated the human rights of Muslim students by not allowing them to form a Muslim student group and by not providing them rooms without Christian symbols for their daily prayers.

The investigation alleges that Muslim students “must perform their prayers surrounded by symbols of Catholicism – e.g., a wooden crucifix, paintings of Jesus, pictures of priests and theologians which many Muslim students find inappropriate.”

A spokesperson for the Office of Human Rights told Fox News they had received a 60-page complaint against the private university. The investigation, they said, could take as long a six months.

I heard Hannity talking about this last night.

It's ridiculous for all your reasons given.

Is this called blending in. Look what these Muslims did in London and surrounding areas.

Why do we think that won't happen here?

I'm a Catholic and I'm offended that they're offended.

If I were in Saudi Arabia attending a school there, should I expect the college to accommodate my religious beliefs at that school?

While it does rank as a minor concern that the school won't allow the students to form a Muslim group (but as a private school, they can do that), to complain about having the paraphernalia of Catholicism permeating a Catholic school is a bit much.

Great article. In some Muslim countries it is difficult to even to a building permit to even build a Catholic Church. America is suppose to be a free country were one can build Church, Mosques and Temples.

Before we get too hot and bothered about this, take note of who is filing this:

"The complaint was filed by John Banzhaf, an attorney and professor at George Washington University Law School. Banzhaf has been involved in previous litigation against the school involving the same-sex residence halls. He also alleged in his complaint involving Muslim students that women at the university were being discriminated against. You can read more on those allegations by clicking here."

So it is not clear that any Muslims are actually involved in this, only an anti-Catholic idiot from George Washington University Law School.

Stories like this damage the Muslim community as it appears that the Muslims have no wish to integrate into the community in which they live. I'm sure, or at least I hope, this kind of attitude is a reflection of a minority of Muslims, but unless other Muslims speak out, this is the narrative that continues.

The very fact that these people were heard is already a good thing. Sometimes issues like these act like a pinched nerve. It's painful, but the road to healing isn't far away.
