Is Jim DeMint sending out smoke signals as to who he'll endorse?

Here is Jim DeMint Talking to Neil Cavuto:

Lets see:

“I’m looking for which candidate really inspires the imagination and earns the vote of conservatives all around the country,”......“I want to see the one who’s appealing to Independents"......."I want to see the one who’s gonna win the general election, because 2012 might be the last chance we get to turn this thing around."

Now who can "BEST" fill his criteria......Hmmmm?

He needs to just do it.

Romney has been the victim of a smear campaign for far too long.

If people don't start stepping up, like Christie did, we may lose the chance to save this country.

Demint, America is at risk, here, please help put an end to the character assassination! Endorse Romney. Now.

He won't endorse anyone in the primary. Too much grass roots cred to lose by supporting Mitt again. Otherwise, he'd already be on board.

Powder dry? DeMint needs to take his best shot before his powder gets wet. But what does that metaphor actually mean to him? Is it a chance for return favor from jumping on to the bandwagon of the inevitable nominee, or does it mean that he wants to truly influence the Party's selection? If he wishes to help the Party make the best selection to enhance it's chances for victory---- well, that choice should already be clear (Romney). The time is now, Jim DeMint, to be a leader, rather than culling the reputation of a follower.

RW, for a guy who won't endorse, he's sure talking a lot about endorsing.

BTW - Are Palinistas going to to Newt? That's pretty funny, if you think about it.

newt got a little bump in some post debate polls...give palin credit, she said newt won and her loyalists responded. Newt camp will work hard to get palin endorsement

Palin endorsing Newt would be hilarious. Didn't she say we needed a governor? Yes, she did. But beyond that, there's a lot of contradictions between Palin's core beliefs, and Newt.

Find me the quote where she said it had to be a governor. She has indicated a preference for executive experience, but he was third in line for the presidency, afterall. Having said that, complimenting his debate skills is hardly an endorsement.

RW, yes, it isn't an endorsement, and she's playing all this pretty close to the vest. She's said both positive and negative things about at least a few of the candidates, so no one really knows.

My guess is that she will do something pretty unexpected. That's her style.
