Is Herman Cain Pro-Choice? You Decide!

Here Cain is On the Piers Morgan Show. On Abortion not related to family members:
No, it comes down to is, it’s not the government’s role — or anybody else’s role — to make that decision. Secondly, if you look at the statistical incidents, you’re not talking about that big a number. So what I’m saying is, it ultimately gets down to a choice that that family or that mother has to make. Not me as president. Not some politician. Not a bureaucrat. It gets down to that family. And whatever they decide, they decide. I shouldn’t try to tell them what decision to make for such a sensitive decision.

Yes, I would say that Cain's position on abortion is the definition of pro choice. But watch the socons embrace him anyway because he's not Mitt.

"But watch the socons embrace him anyway because he's not Mitt." With respect, while there might be some truth to that, in general that is not the case. I have to view the actual video later today, but one of the various reasons that I have not officially chosen the Cain camp as my adopted home is because my impression of Mr. Cain prior to today was that he was a rather weak Pro-Lifer as opposed to a strong Pro-Lifer. If Mr. Cain truly is not Pro-Life at all, that do not see myself backing him. I would sooner back a candidate that has no chance of winning.

This is more of Cain trying to be on both sides of an issue--saying one thing, and then retreating, and leaving people even more confused.

I watched the interview with Stossel, and he says the government should not be involved, that it's not the government's job, but the mom/family. Then seconds later says abortion should not be legal.

The man does not know what he believes.

FYI, it appears that he is specifically talking about rape and incest. While I for one do not favor abortion for rape and incest, apparently Mr. Cain was not talking about abortion in general.

he said in an interview he would release all guantanamo prisoners in exchange for one us soldier, then later said he misspoke and didnt understand the question? well if you didnt understand that, then your not ready for president

Poor Herman, I really like the man but he would be a disaster as President. He just doesn't have the experience necessary. We already have a novice in the White House, we don't need to replace him with another.

OJ, watch the Stossel interview, and then try to make sense of Cain on abortion. He says he is both for and against government being involved, and he is not being specific about the exceptions.

cain would be another on the job trainee and we dont need that. He has had to retract and take back various statements he made. He is lucky the yucca mountain question in the debate did not go to him first because he wouldnt have known what it was.

This seems like a Libertarian-leaning answer. I am a conservative, not a Libertarian, Mr. Cain. Grade "F" for an answer!

OJ, thanks for the clarification. Yes, Cain is talking here about Rape/incest/life of the mother. But...his answer is still a little vague and could lead one to wonder if he would say that government shouldn't be deciding abortion issues ever for any situation.

I am not sure that he understands the difference between pro life and pro choice. This is what happens when a nice man with no real political background runs for office. He wants to make everyone happy.

All politicians want to make everyone happy. Good ones recognize the reality and try to disappoint the fewest number of people. Patriots put the country first and still try to disappoint the fewest number of people.
