According to this morning's Sunshine State Poll, conducted July 5-7, Romney is widening his lead over Obama in Florida by improving with independents:

Romney............46 %

Moreover, Mitt leads state wide with the exception of the Dem stronghold of Miami:

Jax/Panhandle: Romney 55%  Obama  28%
Tampa Bay: Romney 44%  Obama 43%
Orlando: Romney 52%  Obama 37%
Naples: Romney 55%  Obama 41%

This statewide poll was conducted July 5-7 with 1,000 registered likely voters for Sunshine State News. Only voters with prior vote history in general elections 2006 and/or 2008 were contacted. The margin of error for a sample size of 1,000 interviews is +/-3.10 percent at the 95 percent confidence level, but higher for subgroups of respondents.

Romney is by far our best chance against Obama.

Electability will trump sentiment this time around. Romney does the best in one-on-one polling against Obama in critical states, and that will make the difference.

The Florida primary will be decided, in particular, on the basis of a candidate's ability to beat Obama in the state.

That candidate is Mitt.

Dave is 100% correct.

I hope we don't throw our chances away. Republicans when they vote in the primary need to think the general election.
