Joe Miller v2.0

From Politico

[Correspondent Brian] Ross dashed after Bachmann, repeatedly asking whether she had ever missed a House vote due to a migraine. She ignored him. Ross pursued her into a parking area behind the stage. Her aides grew alarmed. When Ross made a beeline for the white SUV waiting to carry Bachmann away, two Bachmann men pounced on him, grabbing and pushing him multiple times with what looked to me like unusual force. In fact, I have never seen a reporter treated so roughly at a campaign event, especially not a presidential one. Ross was finally able to break away and lob his question at Bachmann one more time, but she ignored him again.

Afterward, I asked Ross — a hard-nosed pro who nevertheless seemed slightly shaken — whether he’d ever been treated so roughly. “A few times,” he told me. “Mostly by Mafia people.”

Just what we need in a presidential candidate...Joe Miller in high heels.

Bachmann has issued a statement on her migraines.

"Like nearly 30 million other Americans, I experience migraines that are easily controlled with medication. I am a wife, a mother, a lawyer who worked her way through law school, a former state senator who achieved the repeal of a harmful piece of education policy in Minnesota, and a congresswoman who has worked tirelessly fighting against the expansion of government and wasteful spending. Since entering the campaign, I have maintained a full schedule between my duties as a congresswoman and as a presidential candidate traveling across the nation to meet with voters in the key, early primary and caucus states of Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina. I have prescribed medication that I take whenever symptoms arise and they keep the migraines under control. Let me be abundantly clear - my ability to function effectively has never been impeded by migraines and will not affect my ability to serve as Commander in Chief.

"The many questions I have received on this subject have allowed me to discuss this important condition that impacts individuals in nearly one in four households. However, as a presidential candidate and office holder, I am focused on performing my job, which has never been more important given the state of our economy and the millions of Americans that are out of work. While I appreciate the concern for me and my health, the greater concern should be the debate that is occurring in Washington over whether or not we will increase our debt, spending and taxes."

Ha ha. This might just be the end of Michelle Bachmann. Not the migraines, but the foolish way she dealt with it.

Martha, this was taken in to account when I stated that this was the end of the road for Bachmann. They will continue to hound her over it, and her handling of it will be less than ideal. I suspect she has missed votes due to her condition.

I agree, THIS IS BIG!

Her candidacy will go down the tubes after this.

She is still skirting the question. "How many House votes has she missed due to migraines?"

If she hasn't missed any, I would think she would have stated that as proof positive that her migraines were no big deal. But since she hasn't...

Three more questions:
1: How often do these occur?
2: What are their severity?
3: Exactly what medications is she taking?

These are perfectly legitimate question to be asking. And they are going to be asked again and again until she answers them. The longer she puts it off, the worse it is going to be for her.

As to her point of migraines affecting "individuals in one in four households", I have to ask, how many households in America are affected by alcoholism? I don't care how frequent the occurrence is, I want to know how it is going to affect one person -- my potential Commander-in-chief.

I have to agree with you, RW. She is handling this very poorly.

Dan, The comparison to Joe Miller is right on, and not just the roughing up of the press. Bachmann is in the same boat as Miller, O'Donnell, and Angle--candidates in over their heads, and unable to handle the national spotlight.

But Joe was a lying little worm, whereas the others are just incompetent.

I actually feel a little bad now comparing Bachmann to Miller. I think that Miller is a low life scum, whereas I have the utmost respect for Bachmann as a person. Her family values are inspiring and impeccable. I just am appalled at how her team handled the press.

All of this makes me wonder.....WHO is silently
"attacking" Bachmann?? Who's political agenda is getting helped by this??? Pawlenty? Perry?

I am for truth, but I'm also for integrity, not deceit.

I feel for Bachmann, but while I've appreciated her voice in Congress and in America, I've never thought she had the experienced resume needed in the WH after what we've been through especially. We NEED her voice and service in our country....just not in the WH.

This will hurt her "surge".

OK

Oh crap, now I need to clarify again. When I referred to Bachmann's family values, I was thinking of her own family and all those foster kids she has taken in. I was not thinking of that horrid pledge she signed.

DanL,

Did she intercede in the reporters behalf?

Did she tell her handlers to back-off?

If the answer is no, then I wouldn't feel bad.

Dan, I agree with you about Bachmann. She's a fine person, as far as I know and hasn't been found doing anything unethical. She just isn't ready to be president, and has some weird incidents that make me uncomfortable supporting her. Like today.
