ROMNEY Head to Head in Primaries

PPP has some very interesting numbers out this morning on head to head comparisons between the leading GOP candidates in early primary states. In SOUTH CAROLINA, the hotbed of the Tea Party:
Romney 50 %......Palin.......... 38 %
Romney 54 %...... Bachmann..29 %
Romney 53 %...... Cain...........29 %

In IOWA
Romney 48 %......Palin......... 41 %
Romney 46 %......Bachmann.38 %
Romney 48 %......Cain.......... 34 %

Surprisingly, they also looked at how supporters would split in 1 on 1 matchups:

In SOUTH CAROLINA, Gingrich / Cain / Bachmann supporters would break 45 - 41 % for Palin over Romney, but Palin / Gingrich / Cain supporters would break 43 - 37 % for Romney over Bachmann.

In IOWA, Gingrich / Cain /Bachmann would break 53 - 37 % for Palin. Strong, but surprisingly close.

To be sure, this is somewhat interesting, but while the field will be narrowed and get sorted out at some point, I really doubt that we will be down to literally only two candidate by SC. Sure, there might be only 2 or 3 major candidates by then, but for better or worse, it is doubtful that there will be a clean two way race by then like Obama-Clinton kind of was.

So as far as the non-Romney supporters of these candidates go, it's nice to know, that they are not ANTI-Romney if it comes down to him and someone else

I think it's looking good for Romney in ALL the early states. I can't see ANYONE on the horizon that could challenge him in NH, NV.

IA, SC, and FL are all looking excellent as well.
