Michele Bachmann, The End of Sarah Palin

Last night, Sarah Palin's political career officially ended. Bachmann became a credible version of Sarah Palin. If you love the right-wing rhetoric and anti-establishment populism, but feel nervous every time Palin speaks, then Bachmann is your woman. In contrast to Palin's Palinisms, Bachmann is quite often coherent. Bachmann is somebody who can go toe to toe with the "serious" candidates, something that most folks (outside of C4Palin) can't see in Mama Grizzly.

As one of those icky moderate Republican types, I can't help but smile at Bachmann's imminent rise in the polls. I love mischief, and Michele represents a healthy slab of it. First, how on earth is Tim Pawlenty going to win Iowa? We may very well be looking at a Bachmann vs. Romney race (waiting on Rick Perry). Second, Bachmann is going to scare the establishment stiff and awaken them to the need to fully get behind Romney. In a Pawlenty vs. Romney race, I see a close race. In a Bachmann vs. Romney race, I like Mitt's chances.

But that is not the mischief that I am most looking forward to seeing. Michelle Bachmann is uniquely positioned to be the one who can shoulder Palin aside. I mean, are Palin enthusiasts going to argue that Bachmann is a sexist, elitist, establishment RINO?

Good luck.

You're drinking the koolaid...

When you have CNN, MSNBC and the rest of the media praising Backmann, you know something is up. Bachmann hired Ed Rollins, who stared slamming Palin right off the bat. Then you have Bachmman attacking Palin, saying that she needs to wait her turn and until her children have grown.I saw the video and you can find it on the web. I found it at HotAir.Then, when asked about RomneyCare, she ducked the question. Go ahead, and put your money on little miss 5%. This is a grand attempt to take Palin down and a lot of people are seeing it for what it is.

Excellent post, Pablo. Michelle is not only female, beautiful and sexy, she's well educated. Education is one of Sarah's biggest problems, along with her unwillingness to become educated. I don't think Michelle can win the GOP nomination, but she sure as hell can shove the media celebrity whore off the stage and it looks like she did it last night.

Anon @ 7:27....politics can be very nasty and I expect to see this be the dirtiest campaign in history. Why do you think Sarah should be treated with kid gloves? You can be sure, none of the candidates will kiss her butt the way C4P does. She will be treated like the enemy.

Bachmann is NOT the Palin-killer. If anyone kills Sarah, it will be herself, nobody else.

I've said many times that the three people working the hardest for the nomination are Bachmann, Romney, and Pawlenty. With last night's performance showing Michele to be a serious candidate, I feel safe in predicting that the last three standing will be Mitt, Tim, and Michele.

It takes hard work and solid preparation to win the nomination. Gimmick candidates and popular figures expecting to be handed the nomination on a silver platter will not last.

Pablo,

Here is the MISSING VIDEO of Michele Bachmann's hidden message to Sarah Palin that Anon is referring to. Fast forward to the 2:30 minute mark.

Let me know if you want me to embed it in your post.

You know, when Michelle Bachmann first started acting like she might run, I thought maybe she does want to be the person who stops Sarah Palin.

But to ask me to believe Romney is in some kind of secret alliance with Romney, is just a bridge too far.

The Palin folks need to get both feet planted in back in reality, enough with the nonsense.

Wow, Is that really the video? So is it considered an attack on Palin when Bachmann does not mention Palin at all but instead talks about a Bible verse (waiting patiently for the right season) and how it relates to her own life.

Goodbye Sarah Palin. It was nice knowing you. Bachmann has just made you irrelevant.

Pablo, last night it became obvious to me that there's no room now for Palin on that stage. Bachmann effectively put an end to it--I agree with you. Despite Palin's huge celebrity status, there's just no way Palin can enter now with any credibility.

I actually thought that if she had been in the debate last night she would have been sorely out of place. She is now firmly planted in the celebrity category--and as Mark said, this is her choice.

I had to watch that video again to understand the minds of C4Palinistas.

"There is a time and a season for everything" = attack on Palin

I agree Martha. Palin can't compete with the others on that stage, which is why she is probably not even going to try.

TOP PALIN AIDE: "She is not electable."

Documentarian John Ziegler, one of Sarah Palin's most ardent, consistent defenders, now says she's simply unelectable.

.... in spite of being approached by Sarah’s husband Todd only a month ago and specifically discussing the possibility, I won’t be working on any Palin presidential campaign.

Why? Well, first of all, contrary to what geniuses like Andrew Sullivan and Howard Dean may want you to believe, there is absolutely no way that she can be elected.

I’ve told this to her directly; more than once.

While many pundits mistakenly think what she is doing is some Trump-like PR stunt, I’m pretty convinced she is running and in doing so will damage the prospects of any conservative defeating Barack Obama in 2012.

Then there's this money observation (emphasis added).

Sarah’s entire operation is increasingly managed like a CIA field office; that she’s adopted a bunker mentality; that she’s trusting the wrong people, some of whom I know are simply exploiting her.

As a result, even those most loyal to her get tossed under the bus, with little or no effort to avoid the collateral damage. Which raises the question: if people like me who would once have taken a bullet for Sarah (and at least figuratively I did many times) can’t get behind her any more, what the hell happened?

I don't know what it's like inside Team Palin, but I do know this: In public, she will attack anyone -- no matter how conservative or friendly -- who criticizes her. Why would her behavior in private be any different from that in public?

If anything, it would be even harsher. This kind of thing is important in a presidential race. In the multitude of counselors, the Proverbs say, there is wisdom. And Todd does not count as a multitude.

I guess ill get a refund on my palin movie ticket. "The Defeated" hahaha

What a difference one night makes. That movie now seems even more inappropriate and embarrassing for Sarah Palin, IMO.

If she's not running, and I'm pretty sure she's not, how utterly narcissistic to draw attention to yourself in the middle of the most important election in our lifetime?

Where and when will your self-promotion end, Sarah? Unflippinbelievable.

Bachmann did well last night, but the window for Palin is still open, its just not wide open like it was before.

I think Palin has maybe 2-3 weeks tops 1 month to get in or Bachmann solidifies herself. with that said Palin isnt going to coast to anything now with Michelle doing so well. And if Bachmann wins Ames, which is a very real possiblity then Palin is done, and so probably is pawlenty. Although Pawlenty will play through past the caucuses and probably to new hampshire

Bachmann sure does make it hard for Palin if she was really considering a run.

Bachmann had an excellent debate last night. She is knowledgeable and intelligent. Pretty and likeable, as well. Good job, Bachmann. I really am sorry now that she hired Ed Rollins who is a pretty nasty human being. I hope she is very careful and doesn't pull a Huckabee in Iowa.

I really don't have any opinion about how this helps or hurts Sarah. I think Sarah will do what she wants; she seems to have been doing that all along.
