Mitt Romney: The $10.25 Million Dollar Man

Mitt Romney hauled in $10.25 million through a call-a-thon today, sending a message to potential rivals that he's going to stockpile an intimidating pile of cash heading into next year's GOP primary.
Romney convened over 700 of his friends, donors and bundlers to spend much of the day raising cash from their own Rolodoxes in a cavernous convention center here as part of what he described on a phone call with supporters as the unofficial kick-off to his campaign. The fundraisers arrived as early as 5:30 in the morning to begin calling their friends on the East Coast.

With so many people feigning a run, and so many dropping out, THIS is what running looks like.

Game On!

Is this close to a reacord one day haul? I tink so. Where do we find that info?

This has to make anyone else considering a run do a DOUBLE TAKE!

This has to be pretty discouraging to the other candidates and potential candidates.

Ron Paul could maybe bring in more or the same....

i dislike fox news so much, but at the same time they will be the only news station that will back mitt vs obama.

Oreilly's guests mary ham and juan williams against romney while oreilly is actually saying good things about him.

Every time I hear Juan Williams open his mouth, NPR goes up a notch in my opinion of them.

I think a lot of these Fox news shos/segments were filmed earlier in the day PRIOR to the news of Mitt's $$$ haul. Today's fundraising amount will go a LONG way to dispelling the fact The Est. is turning against Romney. O'Reilly has it right...the big money is going to Mitt nad this is his race to lose.

Over the last year or so, more often than not, I find O'Reilly more than most talk show hosts, gets it right.

Isn't Daniels the only serious candidate who can generate this kind of money with the establishment donors behind him?

And yes, I used to love foxnews and talk radio, but now I'm so suspicious of their dismissal for Mitt and their picking winners and losers. I can't enjoy them like I used to! But Anon 8:22 you're right, we have a love/hate relationship with foxnews.

MikeZ,

Who says the Est. is behind him? I know there were stories last week, but I don't think it's certian.

There is a concerted effort to whip up excitement about this guy - good guy- but if he can't generate it himself, you can't manufacture it for him.

Daniels is the manefestation of the Rightwing Media Combine's wanting something new. All the buzz about Daniels is coming from ediotorial writers and opinion makers, in the hopes if they repeat it long enough it becomes true.

Read this cynical spin from the master himself - Allahpundit at hotair, desperate to turn a positive into a dreary, gloomy negative: "I guess he figured that after months of bad press on the right about RomneyCare and how his frontrunner status is paper thin, it was time to force the media to say something positive. Meanwhile, though, with Huckabee now out and Iowa suddenly in play, there’s pressure on him to get in the race there and prove that he can win even in social-con strongholds — and a big fundraising day like this only increases that pressure. If he’s lapping the field on money, there’s less of an excuse him for not to compete, which means ironically that by trying to set the bar low this morning for his fundraising haul, he’s inadvertently now set it higher for states like Iowa and South Carolina where he’ll have a tough time winning."

This is why lions eat their own.

I dont know, reports say christie and jeb bush will back daniels, but once they see he doesnt stand a chance against mitt's money, they will endorse romney

anon at 9:04. and that my friend is why i dont frequent hotair. bunch of blowhards!

it is obvious that Mitt's depth and breadth is pretty far reaching. $10.25 M in a day will be the envy of the field. Sends a message to two camps imo. The first is daniels, its gonna take alot of effort and you are unknown. the second is to obama, not gonna be a cakewalk money wise this time around.

Very nice day for Mitt!

Dick Morris just blew a Kiss of Death:

He said Romney will gain at least a 3rd of Huckabee's support and most of Trumps.

That's a pretty impressive haul!

Cindy Crawford instucted the more than 700 volunteers on how to use the dedicated software for the event (dubbed ComMitt) while Olympic Speedskaters Dan Jansen and Derek Parra manned the phone banks in a setting the size of 2 football fields.

BTW, I saw an unconfirmed report that the final tally was over $12 Million.

Cindy Crawford the Super Model? I thinkI'm more impressed with her participation than the fundraising. :)
