Jon Huntsman comes under scrutiny in New Hampshire

I have to wonder which party Jon Huntsman is preparing to run for the highest office in. Saying that, and having New Hampshire as my second home state for the past 25 years, I find that others in this state have had the same thought.

Huntsman is in NH this weekend and perhaps wasn't ready for the scrutiny that NH citizens are notorious for.

He has several issues in his past that don't sit right with many in NH. As Governor of Utah in 2002, Huntsman backed a law that that allows illegal immigrants to pay lower rates at state colleges if they graduate from a Utah high school or get a high school equivalency degree. In 2007, he battled his own party to overturn the controversial bill.

Republican New Hampshire state Rep. Andrew Manuse called Huntsman’s support for the law “exceptionally bothersome and worrisome.”

“The idea that this progressive concept, which is really just socialism, is still around, is disturbing,” Manuse told the Herald. “Anyone who thinks it would get them votes in the Republican party is out of their mind.”

He also is facing scrutiny on his support of Obama’s stimulus program, a cap-and-trade system to reduce carbon emissions and a “path to citizenship” for illegals.

His service as Ambassador To China also didn't sit well with many.

How was that as a glowing endorsement of Paul Ryan's plan: "The thing that SCARES ME MORE than the Ryan budget is the accumulating debt". It nice to know that the Huntsmann thinks the Ryan plan is LESS SCARY.

Jon,

Please challenge President Obama for the Democratic nomination. Save our Democratic Party.

I have family members who live in Utah. They don't think Huntsman was a particularly good governor. Lately, he has been quite the political opportunist. I think he is weak and not dependable. Remember that Romney MADE HIS OWN MONEY; Huntsman has inherited his.

I'll add my two cents. I know little of Governor Huntsman. But I did watch his GMA interview and I thought he was evasive and weasily. He never answered directly but danced around the edges of questions.

If Huntsman is nominated I hope he won't be so slippery and will take principled stands in contrast to Obama. But I plan to work to nominate another.

I don't think he'll enter. If he does, It won't be to win. I believe he's inteligent enough to know that that would be an imposibility.
