Let's hope that this is pretty much the end of this malcontented loose cannon trouble maker. We warned the party elite about this clown, but they would listen.

I refuse to write the political obituary for anyone on the the basis of one gaffe.

However, as I have said many times, Newt is very good at throwing bombs, but not very good at building or running things. That places him at a distinct disadvantage campaigning to become President. His mouth will get him into trouble. This is just an early example of it.

This is why I was saddened by the news that he at long last had decided to actually run for President. I have fond memories of him engineering the take back of the House of Representatives after fifty years of Democrat rule. I knew he didn't have it in him to mount a credible run for President and would likely only end up embarrassing himself.

It gives me no satisfaction whatsoever to say that it looks like I was right. I echo the sentiments expressed by that guy yesterday. Newt, get out before you embarrass yourself any further.

I just heard Newt Gingrich on On the Record, and he said that his comment was in response to a question of whether he would push through the Ryan plan if he could. What he says he was trying to say was that he wouldn't do anything the way that Obama pushed through Obamacare.

I can believe that he is telling the truth, but the original comment still shows that he's too easily tripped in our sound byte political atmosphere. I don't think he's a bad guy, but he's not going to be president. He wants to make an attempt because he doesn't want to go to his grave knowing that he never tried. His attempt will fall short. He's done some great things for the country. He just won't be president.

Anon,

the entire interview is out there. Gingrich was not taken out of context.

I don't think he's toast. Then again, I don't think he has a snowbsll's chance in hell of getting the nomination either.
