Mike Huckabee: Oops!

Did Mike Huckabee just flush his presidential aspirations down the proverbial toilet? Well, if American mainstream media has an ounce of journalistic gumption remaining the answer most certainly would be “yes”. Huckabee has just been caught on video, at a Christian supremacist conference, stating that Americans should be forcibly indoctrinated at gunpoint. The organization which hosted the “Rediscover God In America” conference, United in Purpose, has edited Huckabee’s comment from footage of his speech, but not before People For The American Way’s Kyle Mantyla captured the unedited footage, in which Mike Huckabee states, “I almost wish that there would be, like, a simultaneous telecast, and all Americans would be forced–forced at gunpoint no less–to listen to every David Barton message, and I think our country would be better for it. I wish it’d happen.”

The full story can be read here.

I honestly try to give all potential GOP candidates the benefit of the doubt. Huckabee, however, strains the limits of my kindness. I really don't like that guy. The only thing I can say for him is I think he would have run a more enthusiastic campaign against Obama in 2008 than McCain did.

This is Huckabee's "cling to their guns and Bibles" moment.

But his supporters will say that he was so smiling so we have to accept that he was kidding.

Not ready to be president.

I don't know who Barton is, but I don't appreciate being told I should be held at gunpoint and forced to watch something just because it represents his view of America. It shouldn't make any difference as to whether you agree with Barton or not. "Gunpoint" is the key word here. That really bothers me.

This story is 2 days old, and hardly a peep. Can you imagine if Palin had said that....or Romney for that matter?

Oh Huckie! It's been nice knowing you! (Well, actually not so nice.)

Sorry folks, Huck is over. Doesn't matter that he was kidding about the gun. There's too many moments like this--so much ammunition that he so willingly provides. Can you see the commercials?

He is not POTUS material, and never has been. The party isn't going down the Huck path, thank heaven.

This can't be real....right? I didn't even think Huck was this clueless. Obama and the Dems would carve him up like a Thanksgiving turkey with all the ammo that he gives them.

What is POTUS material? Mandates?

Right Wingnut said...

AJR, Yes it is real. Watch the video.

Stupid is as stupid does!

OhioJoe,

"What is POTUS material? Mandates? '

Not at all! For a Governor, YES! Governors, according to the constitution, can do mandates, POTUS cannot. Get this through your THICK scull!

This is exactly the kind of man that I always thought Huckabee was. I am so very glad that he has finally exposed the core of his soul to America. Please MSM, please, run with this. I would beg FOX to as well, but I know they have no integrity when it comes to Huckabee.

DanL said...

This begs a question of my friend Martha. How could you ever support Huckabee over Palin? I can not for the life of me imagine Palin thinking these kind of thoughts. I have always imagined Huck to be cut from the same cloth as Governer Lilburn W Boggs.

DanL said...

This is really scary coming from the man who wants the constitution to be rewritten "to amend the Constitution so it's in God's standards." No doubt he fantasizes about constitutional conventions where his armed thugs point guns at the heads of everyone else and make them write amendments as Huck interprets God's will.

OhioJOE said...

"YES! Governors, according to the constitution, can do mandates, POTUS cannot." Hellllo, that does not make it necessarily right.

I sure wish that someone with posting privileges at Race would write this up over there. I linked the original story in the comments section of a thread at Frum Forum.

Nice find Rev!

And the fact that the finished interview didn't include this.

HaHaHaHa!
What were they trying to hide???

Right Wingnut said...

I'll post the original story with a link to the video on Free Republic later. The only problem with that...Barton might have some loyal fans there.

Dan, you're gonna to make me defend the Huckster?!

Well, it's really not that hard. As bad as I believe Huck would be, Palin would be far worse. I doubt Huck would be a good president, but he would probably not be a disaster. I don't think you can say that about Palin.

No one knows how much of what she writes is her own. It's obvious that a lot of it is not, otherwise she would do more interviews with real off the cuff Q/A's. She has no business running until she has proven her credibility in many serious interviews. No more talking points about steel spines, servants hearts, common sense conservatism and Reagan Reagan Reagan. And I've had it up to here, with the non-stop self-promotion.

What about quitting? How does anyone know she's not going to quit, or just check out mentally if things get rough? No one knows, but we do know that she went back to Alaska after a taste of the national spotlight, and was no longer interested in doing her job. BTW - that was her reputation in Alaska long before she became famous. That she's great at campaigning, but actual governing bored her. She hired a city manager in the tiny town of Wasilla, for crying out loud.

So we just disagree. IMO, she's the worst possible choice of anyone running.

RWN, thanks for posting it at FR.

Martha, all I can say is that I am appalled. I'll leave it at that as I like you.

Right Wingnut said...

The FR post flopped. Barton has a lot of fans there. I don't know who the guy is. It's not about Barton, it's about Huck. Most of them didn't get it. To top it off, I was called a "closet left winger." LOL. Now I know how Pablo feels!

RWN I don't know why you bother with that freeper sewer. You are head and shoulders above that crowd.

DanL said...

RW, I am sorry that you are now considered a RINO at FR. But you did the right thing by posting that about Huck.

Right Wingnut said...

DanL, It doesn't matter. There are so many people there, they don't remember who's who from one day to the next.

Doug, I cross-post some of my posts because of the high traffic at FR. The post immediately goes to the top of the Google search engine, and quite often gets re-posted on other sites along with a link to Right Speak.

There are a few voices of sanity. Here's one...

This is like Ann Coulter’s comment that Muslim leaders should all be killed, and the rest converted to Christianity.

In other words, idiotic!!!

In that it just gives the left exactly the kind of soundbites they salivate over.

How much longer will the media give this hypocrite a free pass.

I agree, that if this had been Palin or even Romney, It would be the big buzz for a couple of days.

Anonymous said...

Dan, you know I like you, too.

Why are you appalled, though? Simply because I think Huck would end up being a better president than Palin? Both are terrible options. Practically, Palin would have far more trouble actually being president than Huck. That's all I'm saying.

I agree with you that Palin has not been responsible for anything as terrible as the death of the cops. But they both have horrible judgment.

-Martha

Right Wingnut said...

Martha,

One of them wants to force you at gunpoint to listen to Barton.

The other praised Mitt Romney for standing by his faith in her book.

Don't you see the contrast here?

DanL said...

Martha,

What about all the ethics charges against Huck? They have merit. As far as I am concerned, none of the ethics complaints against Palin have merit.

What about Huck's abuse of our religion? I don't for a minute believe that Palin would abuse our religion. If Palin were president, I don't believe at all that she would threaten our religion. I do believe that Huck would do whatever he thought he could get away with to harass our church.

Which state was left in better shape after they left office. Hands down Alaska.

Yes Palin quit. And I am in agreement that this was a terrible decision on her part. Huck stayed in for 10 1/2 years. So what. I am sure that Arkansas would have been better off if he had quit after 2 1/2 years.

Huck is a shameless flip flopper. Palin, not too much.

I really could go on, but why? You have decided that Palin is the sum of all evil and you won't be swayed. You've got your sights on the wrong target.

Anonymous said...

RW, there is plenty to debate when it comes to Palin and Huck, that's for sure. And Palin absolutely treats Romney better than Huck does. No debate there at all.

-Martha

Right Wingnut said...

It's more than how they treat Mitt. It's about their respective governing philosophies. Huck wants to try to convert you to his way of thinking, and Palin wants to leave you the hell alone.

Anonymous said...

Dan, Everything you said is true, and I do target Palin. Maybe because Huck isn't in the news every day like she is.

Trust me, if Huck runs, I'm there with you opposing him all the way. Full attack mode, baby. But the truth is that Palin bugs me more than Huck does right now. How that's even possible, I have no idea.

If there ever was evidence that Pablo is a liberal, it is this post. You have no sense of humor, no understanding of the English language and its generous use of hyperbole.

But, of course, you know he meant nothing of the sort as you suppose. It is your willingness to destroy anybody that gets in the way of your social liberal nonsense.
