When it comes down to nominating a standard bearer to challenge President Obama in 2012, Republicans would much rather pick a candidate they think can beat Obama than one who shares all their values but whom they doubt could win in the general election, according to a CNN poll released this morning. From CNN Poll:
If you had to choose, would you rather see the Republican party nominate a presidential candidate who agrees with you on every issue that matters to you but may not be able to beat Barack Obama, or a presidential candidate who can beat Barack Obama but does not agree with you on every issue that matters to you?
Can beat Barack Obama 68%
Agrees with you on issues 29%
No opinion 2%
The full story is HERE.
The question for everyone is:
Does this HELP or HURT any particular candidates?

I already new the answer, but I figured I'd ask anyway! It sounds so much better coming from others.
I'd rather win, than lose! Can we afford 4 more of this administration? That's the question we need to ask ourselves. If the answer is 'no', then we need to put up a winner, and not someone who looks good or makes us 'feel' good, and is 'just like us'. My best bosses were men and women who I did not agree on 100 percent of the time. But they ran the companies I worked for and work with today - in a very competent direction. That person who can drive this country forward IMO, is Mitt Romney.
I'd rather win too. 100% agreement with all of my political opinions is not too likely. I would rather we share the same fundamental belief system, and the potential president be a strong leader with a record of achievement.
Mitt Romney both fits my criteria of who I want like and who has the best chance of winning.
Sarah? Are you taking all this in?
I don't know who it hurts, Bosman. What I can't believe is that 29% would rather lose!!! That's pure crazy.
What's even crazier is that I've heard some Palinistas advocate for the the Kamikazi approach!

Recently, a series of polls in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia ALL showed Mitt running better against Obama than any other Republican.
Because of financial resources, organizational depth, and a strong base of support, Mitt is the most likely candidate to beat Obama....and is widely considered the most likely to win the nomination.
I concur.
Martha,
Kamikaze (kah-mee-kah-zeh) means "God wind" in Japanese. It has come to mean an honorable suicide death by taking your enemies with you. I speak Japanese! I thought I would share that talent today. Besides, I can't stand it when someone gets it wrong. :) It's another reason why Barack Obama annoyed me with his lecture about how we should be learning another language; i.e. Spanish. Between us, my husband and I speak 3 languages; English, Spanish, and Japanese. Obama should go lecture someone else, preferably as an ex-president.
I want to win against Barack Obama; that's why I voted for McCain/Palin in '08, and why I will do whatever I can to win in '12. I couldn't bring myself to donate money in '08 because I despise McCain, and Palin didn't make up the difference for me. However, I will even try to bring myself to donate money for whoever wins the nomination, even if it's not my guy. Go Mitt!

I agree 75% of something is better than 100% of nothing.
Losing is for losers!
I hope everyone learned their lesson last time around with McCain!

"I agree 75% of something is better than 100% of nothing."
That is a profound statement!
