WSJ/NBC Poll: Mitt Romney on top of Republicans

A Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll released today covered a lot of different topics.
Mr. Obama leads former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee 51% to 41% and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich 54% to 35%. Those numbers are comparable to the leads Mr. Obama had last month over former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney in a Journal/NBC News survey.

In December, they did a head-to-head with President Obama against Mitt Romney, Sarah Palin, and Senator John Thune. Here is the match-up results. John Thune actually does better than Sarah Palin. Both are far behind Mitt Romney in their match-ups:

This is another poll not worth the paper it's printed on. They oversampled Dems by 10 pts.

That may be true, RWN, but as Reagan used to say - "Run as if you are 5 points behind."

Following those words, then things can only improve no? If the poll is rigged, then Bama is in worse shape.

Even the PP poll had some good nuggets. For example, Obama's lead is based on GOPers going for him in reater numbers. Ha.

Despite the top line figures, Romney leads O with Indies. That's very important. Bring those GOP numbers back in line and Mitt's ahead.

Oh, wait...I forgot who I was speaking to..never mind.

Hey Bos!....

Interesting how Palin supporters only acknowledge the validity of polls where Palin wins, Huckabee supporters only acknowledge the validity of polls where Huckabee wins. Silly because we all know that the only polls that mean anything are the ones where Romney wins.

Roomney 2012

I'm just having a little fun. :)

But I'm serious when I enthusiastically say Romney 2012!

This is why I really don't pay much attention to polls until around June or July of the year preceding the Presidential election. Nobody besides political junkies is paying the least bit of attention to Presidential politics. As a result, the polls tend to gyrate all over the place.

And the partisans grab on to a lead of a point or two and trumpet it as proof positive that THEIR guy has it in the bag.

People get all worked up over extremely shaky data. It seems the shakier the data, the more strident the arguments become. That's why I call it "The Crazy Time".

Romney pretty consistently polls around 20%. Last time around he started out with about 5%, so he's in excellent shape at this point in the process.

What's important to remember is that he has the resources to build on that 20%. He can go the distance.

Isn't it funny that when Romney leads a poll by 1 point over Huckabee, the headline is Romney on top of Republicans, but when Huckabee leads a poll by 1 point over Romney, the headline reads Romney and Huckabee are tied. Hm....

More good results for Romney and Huckabee.

Palin can't even beat Thune in head-to-head with Obama.
